Team Sanity numbers more than 200,000, by some estimates

A high-spirited crowd numbering, by some estimates, more than 200,000 swamped the National Mall on Saturday, overwhelming the city's public transportation system as people flocked to what organizers billed as a "comedic call for calm." (snip) The turnout was estimated by organizers at more than 250,000, but the figure was not confirmed by local or federal authorities, who do not estimate crowd sizes. An aerial estimate by CBS News estimated 215,000 attended, plus or minus 10%. In a similar estimate for a rally by conservative commentator Glenn Beck in August, CBS estimated the crowd at between 78,000 and 96,000.

Note to liberals: Your best bet is to just try to forget it ever happened, okay? Stop trying to put 200,000+ tons of lipstick on this pig, it was a big mess, it didn’t accomplish squat, and made Colbert and Stewart look like fools.

Just move on. Seriously, it’s for your own good.

They pulled a lot of people but everybody here needs to just chill out.

This was not a political event in the sense the Beck rally was. This was an ENTERTAINMENT event (with political overtones). It’s not going to effect anybody’s vote one way or another and there is no point in getting our collective panties in a wad.

They’re certainly lying about the crowd at the Beck rally. And presumably they’re also lying about this one.

The aerial photos show a much smaller looking crowd compared to the one that was taken of Beck’s crowd. some of the photos were posted here yesterday.

All the news media were pushing this, but it was neither funny nor exciting, and I doubt that it will stir anyone up to vote.

Photos are on orbusmax.com, looks like the Beck rally has approximately 50 times (not kidding) as many people. This latest rally wasn’t large enough to reach the reflecting pool. 2,000 up to 6,000 max. No way it was over 6k people.

I find Stewart about as funny as I found Mort Sahl - i.e., not at all.

Smug and sarcastic really aren’t that funny unless you already agree with them. Even then, the laughter’s forced.

The only turnout that matters is on Tuesday, November 2nd.

That said, I cannot believe papers like the L.A. Times are still trying to peddle the “less than 100,000 at the Beck rally” slop. Then again, according to circulation figures posted on FR today, it is not like they have much of an audience to read it.

The turnout was estimated by organizers at more than 250,000, but the figure was not confirmed by local or federal authorities, who do not estimate crowd sizes.

For some reason, sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.

As you can see from the pics, the idea that the Stewart crowd (supposedly 220,000) was more than double the Beck crowd (supposedly 80,000) is absurd. If anything, the Beck crowd looks about 25-50% larger than the Stewart crowd. I think both estimates are high - I’d put the Beck crowd at about 100,000 and the Stewart crowd at about 80,000.

No bunches here, I’m just amused at the desperation displayed here to exaggerate this farce into relevance. Sorta like sucking on a piece of Melba Toast and pretending it’s a chocolate eclair...LOL

I heard the (in)Sanity bunch numbered at around 60k, not even in the same league as the Beck crowd.

I find it really sad that memorials of our fallen Military was made into a theater for libby satire. Their disrespect for the Country and those who gave all to defend her has been witnessed again. So sad.

sarc
Hell, I hereby declare myself an 'expert', too. Conservatives suck & deserve to die of torture in Obama Concentration Camps. Therefore, the crowd size was exactly 2 TRILLION people.
/sarc.

There. Now, all you liberals go have orgasms all over yourselves.

Geez.

CBS are bald faced liars. The crowd was 6/10 the size of the Beck rally—(estimate done by precision by an expert.) But then, what else would you expect from the lying CBS crew, the same crew that is caught plotting smear tactics on Joe Miller?

Thanks for posting the photos. And for the additional information on the bottom about the area sizes. I posted these two photos yesterday, but without that mapping information added. I said I thought that Beck’s rally was at least twice as big.

And it still looks that way. One cannot be certain, but I’d say somewhere between two and three times as big. And that’s without all the entertainers, the free busses, various bosses telling people they must go, and the free lunches. And a lot more free advertising by the press.
