Giants beat Rangers for 3-1 World Series lead

ARLINGTON, Texas, Oct 31 (Reuters) - The San Francisco Giants beat the Texas Rangers 4-0 on Sunday to move within one victory of their first World Series title in 56 years.

A superb performance by 21-year-old rookie left-hander Madison Bumgarner helped San Francisco claim a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven Fall Classic.

Home runs by Aubrey Huff and Buster Posey provided the firepower for the Giants, now one win away from clinching their first Major League Baseball championship since 1954 when they played in New York.

Game Five of the Series will be played on Monday, with San Francisco sending Tim Lincecum to the mound against Cliff Lee of Texas in a rematch of Game One, which the Giants won 11-7.

The Barbara Bush jinx is still alive and well. Any Astros fan can tell you when Barbara Bush is in attendance, the team from Texas always loses. Doesn’t always happen to Poppy or Dubya but, when Babs is in the house, it’s a guaranteed L.

What an awful sports day in Arlington. Couldn’t get much worse. The Giants have been an incredible team this post-season. Down the stretch in August and September, I thought their pitching would be formidable in the post-season, but this has been a performance for the ages.

WOO HOO GIANTS!

And it was our own Cody Ross who shook the elder President Bush’s hand when he and Bush 43 were arriving to the mound in the golf cart! :)

What an awful sports day in Arlington.

Frankly I think it's great how the Cowboys are tanking....I'm enjoying every minute of it......it's the only thing that is going to wake Jerry Jones up, and realize that when it comes to running a football team,,,he ain't all that.

Can someone be sure she gets a ticket for the game tomorrow night as well?

I'm so loving my Giants right now and I'm excited for the Mad Bomber and his great pitching performance tonight.

As a Skins fan living in Texas (I like to live dangerously) I have to co-sign that statement.

Ranger bats have been asleep for most of this series. I would have preferred a different ending to their season but somethings are not meant to be, I suppose. See you in the spring, Rangers.

I was pulling for the Rangers, but looks like it ain’t going to happen. I did enjoy GW throwing the fastball to Nolan Ryan.

The bats have been cold in game 2 and 4.
Not over yet.
They need three straight, just takes one game at a time Rangers. It’s a mental game now.
You won three straight against the Yankees to get to the series, you can get three from these bums.
See ya for game 7 in Pelosiville.

From a Tigers fan supporting the Rangers.
Actually this Favored Rangers team, is giving me flashbacks of the 06 series when the Favored Tigers failed to show up.

Where are those FR’ers who were talking smack a few days ago (e.g. Rangers in 5)? Giants pitching has been great, but let’s face it, great hitting too. Fear the Beard! Go Giants!
