Democrats making excuses for poorly attended Obama rally
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/01/2010 | Mark Hemingway

Posted on 11/01/2010 12:54:07 PM PDT by txroadkill

Yesterday, Obama staged a rally at Cleveland State University. Unlike the 2008 era of hopenchange, Obama spoke to an auditorium that had thousands of empty seats. The New York Post notes that event organizers are making excuses for the poor attendance:

Shortly before his election two years ago, Obama drew a crowd of 80,000 in Cleveland.

Organizers of yesterday’s event tried to explain away the row after row of unoccupied seats by saying the president was competing with football, church and Halloween parties.

The RNC retorts — “So we’re clear, the event started at 3pm. Most church services were over, trick-or-treating hadn’t yet started and the Cleveland Browns had a bye week. There’s a simple truth, one the Democrats will do anything not to admit: voters just don’t like President Obama and his job-killing agenda.”

For the next few years after these elections, one of the Tea Party’s efforts should be to muster enough folks to ^significantly^ add to these Hype&Change crowds and just sit on their hands for the entire session.

A dour look would be “gravy” for the cameras. Obamugabe and the MSM would begin to understand the zen concept of “one hand clapping”.

Shortly before his election two years ago, Obama drew a crowd of 80,000 in Cleveland."

WRONG! There were not 80,000 people at Obama's rally on the Mall in Cleveland on the Sunday before election day 2008. I WAS THERE! I reported on it on this site. Why is the media still using this FALSE number?

The City of Cleveland gave the media the total number of people who were downtown that day -- most of whom were at the Browns game and went directly home afterward and did not stay for the BHO rally.

The security guard in the building where I work said a government agency (secret service or FBI -- I don't remember) signed around 10,000 people into the mall area for the rally.

The next morning I saw a news van on the very site. I asked one man with the news van why they used the 80,000 number. I told him I was at the rally and there were not that many people there. He said that that was the number the City of Cleveland gave him.

I'm a Texas Rangers season ticket holder so to see GWB at the game last night was nothing new for us Rangers fans, this year it's almost odd to not see him there for a big game. Whenever Bush is shown on the big screen here he is always greeted with a big cheer from his fellow Texans but my seats are just behind the visiting teams family seats so I'm also used to hearing non-Texans make rude and snide remarks whenever he is shown. However, last night took me by surprise when I overheard a man dressed in his San Francisco attire holding a sign that said "Texas Sucks" look at his wife and said, "Wow, remember what it was like to have a President that actually likes America? I miss that man."

I don't think the Left has any real clue how bad tomorrow is going to be

some people decided to paint a room or two in their houses and needed to watch the paint dry.

You gotta watch that stuff every minute!
They painted the White house, didn’t, and
it’s still wet behind the ears.

Liberals get their news from comedians and rappers.

Obama had none at his rally.

I highly doubt Obama was competing with church-goers.

Not those of us that vote our faith anyways.
