Romney calls Palin presidential run 'great'
The Hill ^ | 11/1/10 | Mike Obrien

Posted on 11/01/2010 2:37:19 PM PDT by pissant

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R) said Monday it would be "great" for former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) to run for president in 2012.

"She would be a great thing for the Republican primary process," said Romney, a 2008 presidential candidate and a potential candidate again in 2012. "It'd be a good thing for her to get in."

Romney, Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) have all rallied around Palin, who on Sunday night condemned suggestions that GOP operatives in Washington were looking to stall any potential presidential aspirations she might have.

"The story is nonsense. Because first of all I know Sarah Palin pretty well, and if she wants to run there's not going to be any Washington elites stopping her," Romney told conservative talker Laura Ingraham on Monday on her radio show.

Steele, who's appeared on the campaign trail with Palin at times this fall, told her critics to "shut up."

Romney comes out of hiding 1 day before elections. Romney has been MIA this election, maybe one of the most historic elections in our nations history. Glad to see you are still alive Romney. Just in time to claim victory for the heavy lifting others have done.

Palin has been out campaigning, taking the MSM’s bull, the articles saying a loss would show poorly on her (haven’t seen any of them this week, though). Whatever my previously posted reservations about her, she’s EARNING respect, being a leader.

Romney sits back so that however the election comes out, he won’t risk being tarred by defeat, and is there to jump in front of the victory parade like he’s been leading the party all along.

When 2012 rolls around I’ll be asking, “When we were fighting Obama during the first national election after he became president, where were YOU, Mitt?”

Right on Romney, absolutely wrong on Brown. He's been all over the place trying to defeat Barney Frank here in MA.

Brown's earned back a lot of the credit he'd lost in my book.

A sampling of Brown's campaigning in New England: FOXBORO (CBS) — Republican candidate for governor Charlie Baker campaigned alongside Senator Scott Brown Saturday afternoon. “Scott’s been a tremendous support throughout the campaign,” said Baker. “And he knows these races are fundamentally about pocketbook issues, jobs, taxes and spending.” Baker and Brown also joined congressional candidate Sean Bielat at a rally in Foxboro. Beilat is fighting a close race against longtime incumbent Barney Frank. http://boston.cbslocal.com/2010/10/30/sen-brown-campaigns-for-charlie-baker/ Brown was in Rhode Island Monday to stump for state Rep. John Loughlin; first at a morning rally in Warwick and then at a campaign event later in the afternoon in Lincoln. During the afternoon event, Brown pointed out the similarities he shared with Loughlin, including their message about fighting taxes. Loughlin is running against Providence Mayor David Cicilline for the seat currently held by Rep. Patrick Kennedy, who announced earlier this year he would not seek reelection. "This is not Kennedy's seat. It's not the Democrats' seat," Brown said. Brown's visit to Rhode Island came on the same day President Barack Obama was scheduled to arrive in Rhode Island to raise money for Democratic congressional candidates, including Cicilline. http://www.wpri.com/dpp/news/politics/local_politics/sen-scott-brown-campaigns-for-john-loughlin State Rep. Jeff Perry, the Republican candidate for the 10th Congressional District, spent part of Sunday campaigning with U.S. Sen. Scott Brown in Quincy. http://blogs.wickedlocal.com/masspolitics/2010/10/04/jeff-perry-campaigns-with-scott-brown-gets-americans-for-legal-immigration-support-from-the-candidates/
