First, because anonymous sources are so easy to manufacture - proving that you are using the term anonymous sources to hide behind can kill a site almost as fast as outright lies.
Second, if an anonymous source isn't willing to stand up and be counted what other bad habits does he have.
Extensive use of anonymous sources for any story, regardless of its orientation, smacks of, to I dare say it, McCarthyism.
We know who the back stabbing rinos are. Politico does not need to name them. Out they go next election.
