Richard Cohen: Custodian Of The Blowtorch [Sarah has him frothing at the mouth!]
Investor's Business Daily ^ | November 1, 2010 | Richard Cohen

Posted on 11/01/2010 6:48:47 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

The mind of the demagogue is a foreign country. It has a strange culture, enemies that only the natives can see, a passion about the ridiculous and a blowtorch kind of sincerity that incinerates logical thinking. On Sunday, the custodian of one such blowtorch was on Fox News. I am speaking, of course, of Sarah Palin.

She was charming, amusing and believable. When Chris Wallace asked her about any presidential ambitions, she did not coyly say that she had not given the matter any thought. Instead, she said that if her party needed her, if her country needed her, if the need for her was truly great, then she would sacrifice her freedom of movement, the privacy she enjoys with her family — never mind their tabloid lifestyle and addiction to publicity — and give it all up and run for president. All over the nation, a fair number of Republicans reached for the antacid. Oy!

A Palin presidential candidacy, Politico tells us, gives the GOP establishment a near-fatal case of hives. The leadership generally considers her to be both unelectable and uneducable. (She seems hardly better informed than when she was a lone sentry, binoculars trained on nearby — and forewarned — Russia.)

A recent Washington Post-ABC News poll showed that only 39% of voters viewed her favorably and a still lower figure, 27%, considered her qualified to be president. (Who are these people?) But as Republican leaders know, Palin's numbers are much higher among their own rank and file. With conservative Republicans, 55% think she's qualified to be president — and among Tea Party types, she wins by acclamation. The nomination, please.

John McCain's little joke is turning out not to be so funny...

Final PING for the night-—this one is worth reading just for the savory taste of liberal panic.

Mr. Meridith Viera is always a nasty piece of work where Palin is considered, I can just hear the pillow talk between the two at night: Meridith: Than Damn Palin still won’t come on the Today Show and let me rip...... er interview her and RC: Don’t worry, honey, I’ll write another column and rip her for you.

Cohen is and has always been full of himself. Why if I wasted my time reading his column, I would double his audience.

A Palin presidential candidacy, Politico tells us, gives the GOP establishment a near-fatal case of hives.

But that's a good thing, right Mr. Cohen? I mean if Palin is a disaster then the GOP should step back and let her fall on her face.

I really don't understand all the nail-biting over Palin running for President. If she's that weak, then why not let her run? Same pretzel logic that she was "a drag" on the McCain ticket.

Cohen one of the liberal geniuses that told all Americans with great certainty that the Tea Party was nothing more than a fake, astro-turf, fringe racist operation and that wouldn't add up to much.

Yeah, this is the same guy and now he's spewing his razor sharp insight about Sarah Palin. (Here's a hint. Don't take any financial advice from this guy.)

HA!

In soft voice with dulcet tones.....

That’s right Richard, you have nothing to fear,
she can’t hurt you, everyone hates her and she
will never have the backing of the people.
Rest, rest and sleep easy, Obama is watching
over you. Sleep. Sleep. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I love it, they are still attacking her, and she isn’t even running for office right now. She just scares the hell out of them.

Go Sarah, go!!!

I could not read through it all, but I remember it before.

Then, it was directed at a washed up ‘B’ movie actor, a wicked, senile dullard cowboy who just so happened to break the Soviet Union like a rotten branch.

As Rush says, they will tell you who they are afraid of.

If you have ever gone brook trout fishing, and tried threading a red wiggler onto a #4, you know that it's almost impossible because of how they writhe and twist and flail about, as if they know what's coming...

...yep. Same thing here.

Gotta tell you, Rich, the present occupant of the White House has lowered the bar considerably.

Cohen should be happy then. He wants the dems to win after all. Why is he whining?

If Sarah Palin is everything the left warns us that she is, then they have every reason to fear her. They are empowering her by publicizing their hatred and making charges that are demonstrably false. Every epithet they hurl at her is repudiated by her mere existence: who do I believe, Cohen or my lying eyes?

I will take Sarah Palin or any farmer listed in a Southern Illinois phone book over any ivy-league approved politician any day of the week.

The left’s latest call-to-fear is that we’re the modern Know Nothings.

Bring it on.
