As a former NoVA resident, and a former Capitol Hill employee, I have to, also, protest the implication that NoVA has gone blue solely because of “government workers”. Our home in Fairfax County was surrounded by the homes of Secret Service agents, FBI, NSA (poor guy had a crappy commute but wanted better schools for his kids) and military personnel. Every single one of the folks I just mentioned voted Republican- and got their pay checks from Uncle Sam.
Of course they do, but they are mostly political hacks with no sense of patriotism or honesty. Government employees are better than that.
I’m also in VA-8. Moderate turnout in my Falls Church precinct - maybe a bit on the light side. 400+ votes and no line whatsoever at 2pm.
