James Edward Jack Sheffield, 66, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, died November 1, 2010. He was a resident of Mont Belvieu, TX. Jack was born in Beaumont, TX July 6, 1944 to James and Louise Sheffield.
Following his fathers death in 1966, his mother married L.C. Horn, who became a surrogate father to him and his brother, and grandfather to his and his brothers children. He graduated from Beaumont High School in 1962 and Lamar University in 1968.
He started his banking career in 1969 at American National Bank in Beaumont. He moved to Houston in 1972 to work at First National Bank, where he stayed for 12 years. Jack continued to work at many banks over the years, but settled at Lone Star Bank in North Shore, which later became Sterling Bank. He was Senior Vice President of Commercial Lending there for 16 years.
He finished his almost 40-year career at Crosby State Bank. Over the years as he changed banks, his loyal customers would follow him. He was known as the kind and gentle banker, helping many small business owners realize their dreams. Jack had many interests, and was a proud member of the Marine Reserves, the Optimist Club, Sons of Confederate Veterans, and as an avid gun enthusiast, the National Rifle Association.
He was very proud of his Southern heritage and his fascination of genealogy led him to trace his family history back almost 400 years, finding ancestors from both the American Revolution and the Civil War. Jack was very passionate about his interests, one of which was the medical field. He trained to become an EMT when he was in his 40s.
Jack especially enjoyed lively discussions of history and politics. A staunch conservative and Tea Party supporter, he spent a lot of time posting on the political website freerepublic.com. He also enjoyed telling stories of his youth to family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather.
Survivors include his wife Linda Sheffield, daughter Michelle Pustejovsky and husband Clint and grandchildren Charles and Rebecca Pustejovsky; son Jason Sheffield and wife Summer and grandchildren Trever Turnbough and Bryce and Hayden Sheffield; brother Robert and wife Kathy, beloved nephews Robert and James Sheffield, and beloved niece Elizabeth Wenner; and numerous other nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held at San Jacinto Funeral Home 14659 East Freeway, Houston, TX 77015 on Wednesday, November 3, from 6-8 pm and the funeral will be at St. Timothys Episcopal Church, 13125 Indianapolis St, Houston, TX 77015, The Rev. James E. Hamilton officiating, on Thursday, November 4 at 10 am. Private interment for family members will be in Beaumont. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box11454, Alexandria, VA. 22312.
Love, Michelle Proud to be BnBlFlag's daughter (aka Jack Sheffield)
PS I went and pulled the straight R ticket for dad today. He got to vote last Wednesday before his stroke and I know he's trying to find a computer to Freep up in heaven right now to see these great results so far!
God Bless you all.
Rest in peace BnBlFlag.
Condolences from our household here in Southern California.
So young!
Prayers for your family and bless your Dad — I am sure he is sitting with Christ and regaling Him with many a great story. :)
Prayers for you and your family. May your Dad RIP.
Thank you for sharing this with his FReeper family. As a FReeper and a Texan (stuck elsewhere at the moment!) I can say, your Dad will be missed. But, he’s in a better place. I know how hard it is to lose a parent, but you will see him again.
Hope you stick around.
May God keep your family close in this difficult time.
I’m very sorry for your great loss. We’ll miss BnBlFlag!

May God comfort and bless you and your family.
Your father’s obit is a fine tribute to his memory. He obviously was a true patriot.
Prayers up....hopefully you can carry on with his legacy here with us all.
Thank you for letting us know a Patriot has gone to heaven.
I just read some of his posts, and it’s very obvious from his postings he was intelligent and kind and had a joyful spirit.
My mother passed away July 23 and although I miss her every day, it actually has gotten easier as time has gone by.
You are a great comfort to our Freeper family here, as I’m sure you are to your own family.
I’m so sorry to hear that. He will be missed! :(
May love, light and liberty keep the spirit of Jack alive in every one of us FReepers....
Prayers and condolences.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. May you experience God’s peace and comfort.

Prayers for your family.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. May you experience God’s peace and comfort.
In one sense there is no death. The life of a soul on earth lasts beyond his departure. You will always feel his life touching yours, his voice speaking to you, his spirit looking out of other eyes, talking to you in the familiar things he touched, worked with, loved as familiar friends. He lives on in your life and in the lives of others that knew him.
God Bless you and I know your dad is enjoying his heavenly home......
One of my favorite freepers of all time..
May God bless his soul and his family.
Semper Fidelis, and Rest in Peace,
LH

Say Hi to God my Friend. I know God already hears the words of my heart.
On this, a great night in conservative Christian American politics, I wish to take this moment to thank you for the many years you spent helping to inform, and enlighten those around you.
BnBlFlag, was a Freeper, and thus deserves the respect of every Freeper who spends any amount of time posting and commenting.
May the Lord bless his family who must now go on without him. It is heartening to know that his children were by his side in the last moments in the world.
I readily admit that I have been estranged from my children for many years now. It is my fault for not being the man I should have been many years ago. It is what it is though. I know the Lord has forgiven me, I just pray that one day my children will forgive me enough to be by my side as BnBlFlag’s children were when his time to say goodbye came.
God bless the man BnBlFlag was, God bless America, and God bless Jim Robinson for giving men like me and BnBlFlag a place to vent and make FRiends.
Prayers up.
God bless.
Rest in peace BnBlFlag.
Rest In Peace, BnBlFlag, and our prayers are with your loved ones tonight.
