The Minnesota governor's race is so close it has come to this: another recount appears almost certain. With 99 percent of precincts reporting, DFLer Mark Dayton leads Republican Tom Emmer by less than one half of 1 percent -- 43.67% to 43.24%. For any race where the margin is less than one half of 1 percent, there is an automatic recount, as happened two years ago in Minnesota's U.S. Senate race. "It looks like it's recount part II: And this time it's personal," said state Republican Party Chair Tony Sutton.

Even if Dayton wins, he will be emasculated by both houses now in GOP control.

Recount doesn’t matter in Minnesota if the Democrat is .4% up. Enough Democrat votes will be found in desk drawers and trash cans to confirm. If the Republican is u .4% enough votes will be found in desk drawers and trash cans to put the Democrat “over the top.” Republicans will accept the result. If it should go to recount then the election should be simply logged as a Democrat win and save time. The real vote without counting Dead voters and Illegal voters and Multiple voters would give the Republican a couple more per cent anyway.

“Even if Dayton wins, he will be emasculated by both houses now in GOP control.”

...and my phone calling to the Governor’s line!

Nat’l Media has been ignoring this race so far. Why?

Its stunning that after spending millions of dollars against a vastly outfunded opponent, Dayton can’t manage to put this race away!

Have hope Freepers - the trifecta may yet happen!

Pretty good pull quote, Tony. Let’s just win, baby!

Give or take 1%, then Democrats will steal it. Except for with Bush with the nation closely watching, has a Republican ever pulled one of these off? The thieves almost got the 2000 elections, but misjudged how many votes they needed.

Besides the ballot-box stuffing the Demwits have no doubt already engaged in to bring it to this point, all of the piles of loose papers in the polling places need to be picked up, carried out, and shredded, and the premises photographed, to show that no “valid ballots” were left out “by accident”. Thanks LiveFreeOrDie2001.

A GOP Legislature!: Something not seen in 40 years in Minnesota. I feel a little more comfortable knowing this if Dayton sneaks in.

The dems almost ALWAYS "win" the close ones. They'll find enough votes to maintain a lead.

Even though I have a master's degree from Minnesota State University and appreciate that it is one of the most educated states in the nation, I cannot figure out why it has a tendency to turn out a large sympathy vote for the mentally challenged.

Both U.S. Senators are among the dimmest bulbs in that body, though I must concede the competition is fierce. Dayton himself is a failed senator who is dumb as a box of rocks. How Minnesota could even consider such a doofus as governor is mind-boggling.

Dayton ran on a platform of “I’ll tax the rich, and give it to YOU!”

He is a total joke.

With the shenanigans that were going on in the SOS office last night, I hope this recount is CLOSELY supervised!
