Colo. Democrat Bennet wins Senate race

Sen. Michael Bennet has narrowly defeated tea party Republican Ken Buck to win a hard-fought Senate seat in Colorado.

The victory for Bennet allows Democrats to hold onto a seat once viewed a prime opportunity for the GOP to make gains.

Bennet provided a crucial firewall against further Republican gains in the Senate during midterm elections. The race attracted more out-of-state campaign money than any other Senate contest this year.

In a victory speech, Bennet called it a "race for the record books."

The vote is not counted yet so no one won. If the count is within 1/2% there will be a recount and that can take a week.

He can declare victory all he wants....but, it’s meaningless until the votes are counted.

Don't forget Aspen and Pueblo too.

No one but AP has called this. I think a recount is coming. No need to bail yet Buck.

Stick with it and give them the Rat treatment. Hand recount ballots if possible.

What about challenging the Mexican National vote and the votes of various Illegals from Islamic countries?

Like the story said.... More out of state money for this race in CO history. We are being californicated left and right! People who retire in Cali and move to the mountains are generally segregated at the UT/CO border with the more liberal heading to CO... I am outta here as I didn’t like living in CA and I hate living in CA-lite.

Ok, I am not getting this. They are separated by only 1%, and 3% of the votes still to be counted. How is this a win for the leftest?

This is the typical dem plan of attack for close races. First, declare victory. Second, try to take the high moral ground for the sake of the voters (we need to move on for the good of the state). Third, complain about anyone questioning anything, claim disenfranchisement of women, poor, minorities, etc. Four, put out as many press releases and statements as it takes for the media to talk about this like it's a done deal and widely established fact. Fifth, hold a press conference with a phony “Office of the President Elect” seal on the podium (applies to Messiah Obama only). Folks this ain't close to a done deal.

Colorado, what the hell is wrong with you?

The Colorado GOP is about as competent as Laurel and Hardy. They do not embrace conservationism, they do not back moral legislation. They are in the mold of Bill Owens who squandered both houses in the state government, was instrumental in the loss of both federal senate seats and the governorship. Over the last few years the elected republicans have done nothing but whine. They have failed to advocate core principles. They voted to censure Doug Bruce the only real small government zealot in who cares more about Colorado than getting reelected or good press. The Colorado GOP just doesn't offer much. But, Dan Maes, the Republican, did get 10% of the vote assuring that Tom Tancredo is not the governor.

Yeah, that guy is a troll.

It appears, Buck is going to take a hard look at his race before he makes the determination to concede or not.

In the late 1960’s on Californians moved to CO, OR, WA, UT, NV in droves and brought their CA ideas with them. That is what is wrong with most of the West. Please Jim move Freerepublic out of the G*D forsaken state(CA).

"some Freepers" I hear you man. What the Hell has been going on around here? We are not just talking about this race, and it is not just the work of trolls. Some of these guys are 10 plus year veterans. It's like when life is breathed back into conservatism, these guys go all "Rockefeller" or something.
