Intelligent advanced aircraft is one thing, but if the Air Force wants to be in prime warfighting condition, its pilots had better come with advanced weaponry, too. Thats why the Air Force wants neuroweapons that can enhance airmens performance, while degrading the mental states of their foes.
The Air Force Research Laboratorys 711th Human Performance Wing just updated a call for proposals that examine Advances in Bioscience for Airmen Performance, according to Wired's Danger Room. The initial announcement came out last November, but no one has yet come up with new stimulants that help airmen focus, or models that fuse multiple human senses together to better perceive threats.
These are some of the goals in the Air Forces broad agency announcement, which generally seeks radically new military capabilities that improve warfighter performance and combat effectiveness. The program is worth $49 million.

That’s MegaMind. I think it opens tomorrow.
The superpilot.
“Ghost in the Shell, Stand Alone Complex”?
I am still waiting for the day where the is a link between man and machine. Where the connection is at the base of the neck to the plane computer and the pilot can control all aspects of the plane by using his mind without touching a button or using the control stick. Everything is at will.
Careful what you wish for--us men have one-track minds. They'll end up guiding their bombs at brothels and beer joints.
Hey, I would volunteer for that experiment. To have my mind connected to a computer.A brain-computer interface, or BCI, provides a direct path of communication from the brain to an external device.
You mean something like this? http://www.emotiv.com/
Great Idea and I did not know that. The military applications are endless. The civilian applications are endless.
Brain-machine interfacing is moving along, and will bring us some interesting things. Machine assistance for the visually impaired using sensors implanted into the brain is currently a hot area of research.
I believe that this technology will benefit everyone. Maybe the link can help people to walk again by inserting neural implants in the brain and spinal cord.
