US President Barack Obama prepares to visit India, a prominent think tank has said that the two countries would build their strong bilateral defence ties based on the new strategic realities of Asia.
The defence relationship is one of the many bright spots in the overall bilateral relationship, said the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR), a Washington-based think tank.
"It is expected that the United States and India will continue to develop a strong bilateral defense relationship, albeit one that looks less like an alliance than a partnership based on shared goals.
The US and Indian armed forces will operate together more frequently, and US equipment will be purchased in larger quantities by India, in part reflecting the new strategic realities of Asia and a strengthened US-Indian relationship," NBR said in its report on India.

That is what I was going to say. Pakistan is making fools out of us, for our aid.
Or how B Wacky splains blowing 2 bil on vakay!
What is holding us back is that in 1955 we signed a treaty with Pakistan to help them militarily. It is time to rip up that antiquated treaty and make one with India. But first India must rip up their treaty with Russia.
The 1955 treaties you refer to were dissolved more than a decade before the Soviet Union went bust.
Bilateral treaties do not stand in the way of developing ties with other states other other guaranteeing possible military assistance in times of war. India and Pakistan are themselves proof of that managing ties with Russia and China on one side and the US on the other.
It may of went bust, but we are still doing business with Pakistan. Things have not changed much.
And you are correct
These deals are to protect business interests in India; international businesses in the US would collapse if all of the Indians working for them lost access to the “information superhighway” that cost the white-collar Americans their livelihoods and finished the destruction of our middle class. Any American soldier defending India is fighting for H&R Block, etc.; a catastrophe in India would do much to help the US economy. I don’t blame India for this, or hope for such a catastrophe, but that is the plain truth for all to see.
let’s just say ...he won’t be mouthing POCKEY—STAAN
