Democrat Dannel Malloy appears to have gained enough votes in Bridgeport to win the race for governor.
Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch announced the totals at a press conference around 6:20 a.m., after elections workers there tallied votes through the night.
The Bridgeport vote went for Malloy, with 17,800 votes to Republican Tom Foley's 4,075 votes. That margin of 13,725 appears to be enough to overcome the 8,409-vote lead that Foley held before the Bridgeport votes were counted. If the numbers hold up, Malloy will have won the race by a margin of 5,316.
The total does not include fewer than 100 votes that were cast after the polls closed at 8 p.m., Finch said. [Sample Our Free Breaking News Alert And 3 P.M. News Newsletters]
"[Those votes] are not going to be of consequence. We didn't see any purpose in trying to include those votes," Finch said.
Finch stressed that despite the problems in Bridgeport, every vote has been counted.
"I can assure you that every vote in Bridgeport was counted, and counted accurately," he said. "There are no hanging chads here. Every vote was counted, period."
As for local election officials' decision to print only 21,000 ballots when the city has 69,000 registered voters, he acknowledged that Bridgeport has its financial problems.
But "I would never, ever scrimp by not making enough ballots," he said.
Finch later elaborated when he talked to Fox CT reporter Anthony DiLorenzo, saying money problems weren't the reason for the mistake.
"How much does it cost to print a ballot?" he asked. "We're in financial strife, no doubt, but we're not going to scrimp on people's right to vote."
Finch said he will make sure no more elections in Bridgeport are clouded by controversy.

I am so mad I could spit nails.
Death of CT ping
What was it with states whose name starts with the letter “C”??? California ... Colorado ... now Connecticut
Very simple. As good ole Phil Gramm would say, thar’s more dang people in the cart than pulling it.
Just like the people C= CRAZY
That makes two of us....what the hell...how can it stand legally that they can again pull the old surprise bag of ballots??? They’ve been doing this all over the country...I’m really sorry to live in CT...even though it’s a gorgeous state it’s full of stupid libs.
Notice the States that swung Conservative. Maine, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, Ohio and yet NY, CA, MA and CT went left.
The ones that went left are bucking the trend, and as to why both sets went that way, i.e. right and left, I do not have an answer too.
I wonder if the rightward swing has a faith based component, or years of downsizing and of industry and watching it leave has really awaken them or is the alternative media stronger their?
On the leftward swing, I still think the lefties in these States are in denial and don't get it. A come to Jesus moment is coming as a couple of these States face bankruptcy and the reality of the accounting equation hits them like a 2 X 4 upside the cranium. Wait until the run out of Porkulus hits them, maybe then they will be ready for the 12 step fiscal austerity program.
The reason the DNC is able to pull this “Magic Ballot” trick in state after state and district after district is that the RNC is intentionally insulated and isolated in Washington, DC.
Visit the RNC headquarters at 310 First Street, and you will see a bunch of self-aggrandizing insiders more obssessed with handing out their cards and moving up the ladder than winning elections. And that includes Michael “Snoop Dog” Steele.
That’s why they don’t bother with grassroots organizing or ballot security. Those chores would take them outside the beltway. And, simply put, that’s not where the glory is.
The RNC needs a house cleaning from top to bottom. Sarah Palin would do it. So would Mark Levin. So would a handful of others. But the list is small. And the insiders would fight to the death to keep them out.
So they only ordered enough ballots for 30% turnout with no spoilage? Considering the ballots cost 50 cents apiece, it would have taken all of another $10-15K to be safe. This sure looks to me like a planned license to photocopy, delay and play around with the ballots all they need. I take it they’d have had their judge and ‘emergency’ procedures all worked out. Also, this may have stolen the GOP’s one earned congressional seat from them as well.
Also, while Bridgeport has its inner-city aspects, it also has a substantial working-class, suburban-style area as well.
blue state stays blue. this is news?
Typical RAT coup. They have all kinds of voting problems in Bridgeport, not enough ballots, people not being able to vote, very late reporting results etc. The Pubbie has the lead, but of course after all the votes are counted in Bridgeport the RAT wins. Stinks to the high heaven, but the Pubbies will lay down and of course to Justice Dept. will stand mute.
Like California, Washington and Oregon, CT apparently enjoys being chained to the floor of its cage.
Why am I NOT surprised!?!??
All these lib states subscribe to Einstein’s definition of insanity.
You are so right...Levin was just pointing out yesterday how the Republican senatorial committee is completely ignoring Joe Miller as he battles a corrupt ballot counting process in Alaska - he hasn’t even gotten a phone call from Cornyn!! And this is true, as you say, all over the country...the RNC is pathetic and had absolutely nothing to do with taking the House. No one should contribute to them until they start supporting the Tea Party and stop trashing them, as Rove and others have done. Bastards all.
Yes, a come-to-Jesus moment is about to occur in my state, Oregon too.
I see a big rude awakening coming and I think it will come soon. There are two different types of states in this country. One type are producer states. They generally produce more that they take, generally have their finances in order, have a pro-business environment and are typically red states. The other type of state take more than what they produce, their finances are in shambles, are anti-business, and are typically blue states.
These blue states are something in common with the feds, they are irresponisible with taxes, budgets, and deficits. I think it will happen first with California when they try to ask the feds (us) for a bailout. The House and even the senate are essentially going to tell them to pound salt.
While this is the United States of America, that does NOT give any state the excuse to act irresponsibly. If a state wants to be red or blue, they have to be accountible for that. If states like CA or CT or NY want to have policies of exploding deficits, anti-business laws, high taxes creating an exodus from its state, they have to lie in the bed they make. What you are seeing in these states like CT and NY, are YEARS of sustained neglect and irresponsiblity. The rest of this country is not going to accept that as far as help. Bailouts will simply be like unemployment benefits; they will run out and the states will come back to the trough for me.
NO MORE. CW2 is coming.
These new Republican-led state assemblies need to pass laws in their respective states that NO reporting will be completed until all of the counting from every precinct is done. This crap of 90% reporting, while the counting is still going on has to come to an end. So what if there’s an extra day late with the announcement? Better late and right, rather than early and ****ed up.
Foley didn’t work hard enough to secure the crack-addict vote.
Look at my post 16. I think another reason why states go hard left and stay there is what I call the San Fransico mentality. The liberals who run places like SF or Delaware or Mass know that it is desireable by some to like and work there. They have a captive audience and therefore can pass insane laws and have no fiscal responsibility. They can do this because they have the “we’re the only business in town” attitude.
But I noticed that these states are “takers” and not “producers” and this is not due to hard luck. It is becuase of YEARS of irresponsibilty and negligence. I think there is a time coming soon when other states are going to tell these blue states to FO.
As someone with many relatives in some of the NE "Blue" States, it is interesting to make a mental note of how many have some sort of "State" job and how they vote :-)>.....
Voter fraud big time.I’m sick of having my vote thrown away because of this democrat voter fraud.
This needs to be investigated by the Justice Department Now.
The only way dem’s win elections is by cheating like hell..
Does anybody know how often these “found ballots”, etc. result in Republican wins in close races? Does it EVER happen? It is like “tie goes to the runner and the runner is the Democrat”.
“Bastards all” puts it perfectly. The RNC is staffed at the top by reigning members of the Good Old Boys Club. Lower down, three types prevail: (1) sons, daughters, nephews, and nieces of the powerful pols and rich contributors, (2) the friends of powerful pols and rich contributors, and (3) girls brought aboard to service all of the above (eg, Mary Madalin (or however you spell her name) was a low-level groupie for Lee Atwater — when he died, she suddenly became a political expert).
The stables need to be swept clean.
Thanks. To expand on my other two posts in this thread, I think that cities like SF, LA, typically rely on the state of CA for support and states like RI, Del, CT, etc, rely on the fed for support. While this is reasonable (RI does not have the size of natural resources to be self sufficient), I think what happens is that reliance is taken advantage of and abused. Maybe wreckless abandon is a much better word. The reliance of others becomes a right or demand rather than viewed with gratitude.
But what is happening now is states like CA, NY, MA and now CT are now doing the same thing. Other states in the union are seeing this and are getting pi$$ed off about it. Example, Prop 8 in CA. That was passed in 2008. However, activist judges have overruled it and did so unconstitutionally. These types of shenanigans may have a DIRECT IMPACT in Indiana (where I live) and all of the other states. Why should we put up with this CR@P from CA? Why should we “have to” bailout states like CA, IL, NY when they have refused to be responsible and accountible with their finances for YEARS?
Presently, the mismanagment of the blue states have been a short term benefit to the red states. In Indiana, we are getting alot of businesses moving here that were originally from blue states. However, the time is approaching when accountibility is going to be demanded by the majority of the states in the union to the minority of states that have deliberately neglected it.
Yes...I’ve never ever once heard of a bag of Republican votes being discovered. Apparently the dislocations in the time-warp continuum only allow bags of Democrat votes to pop up. Sorta like the Rose Firm billing records that one day popped up in the White House bedroom of Bill and Hill.
CW2 is coming.

I think it’s already here. Could 2 sides be more divided? I don’t see how we can peacefully co-exit much longer. It’s getting nastier each year. Sooner or later it will reach a breaking point and something will trigger it.
From other reports, it sounds like the reason they ran out of ballots is that they were handing multiple ballots to democrats to vote with.
I want to know what the total votes cast were, compared to the number of voters who are signed in at the polls.
Of course, what I really want is for them to list all the voters who voted publicly, to see if there are names checked off who did not actually show up.
Same here. CT’s a beautiful state. Too bad I cannot stand many of the people. I have really had it. Going to move in the next two years.
You completely nailed it.
“The stables need to be swept clean.”
Amen...but how? I think Rove has managed to discredit himself...we’ve got to get these useless people out of there. Stop giving money to the RNC for one thing!
I am starting to think that Texans need to call for secession.
I really don’t think there is much time left for freedom.
The cities in CT are full of welfare, union and govt. dependent voters. I am not at all surprised by the vote count. It may be a little skewed but Foley was ahead by 8000. With the totals reported in Bridgeport that leaves Malloy with a 7000 vote cushion. Proving that all of those votes were invalid will be impossible.
CT will be a dead duck in two years under the dem reign in the state legislature. My only hope is that I can convince my wife we need to leave before the house is worthless.
82% for Malloy is 15-20% more than typical for the Democrat Gov candidate in BP. That means at least 3500 fraudulent ballot. In addition the Democrats illegal use of Reverse 9-1-1 to make robocalls only to black and hispanic homes violated equal protection laws. Foley needs to file a Federal civil rights lawsuit and turn the SEIU-ACORN-UNITE HERE-Democrat fraud machine upside down. THIS MUST BE DONE. Foley cannot EVER concede this race. Sue on every basis imaginable.
Let them eat cake.
“A come to Jesus moment is coming as a couple of these States face bankruptcy and the reality of the accounting equation hits them like a 2 X 4 upside the cranium.”
We need to be Jesus’ instruments (if you will) by pounding the reality into their noggins also.
From a depressingly blue WA. (at least we have 4 of 9 R reps now +1 - and who knows perhaps Koster pulls out a shocker in WA 2. Worked very, very hard for Watkins and Rossi who both lost.)
