US bans printer cartridges from passenger planes
BBC ^ | November 8, 2010 | BBC News

The US has banned toner and ink cartridges from passenger aircraft in the wake of last month's bomb plot.

In addition, cargo flights from Somalia and Yemen are banned, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.

High risk cargo will receive extra screening and parcels must be screened and certified to have come via an established shipper, she said.

The strictures come after bombs hidden in cartridges were intercepted on route from Yemen to the US in cargo planes.

The printer cartridge ban affects cartridges over 16 ounces.

(On Thursday HLS bans stuffed bears.)

We are now in reactionary mode.

The place not to be, unless one desires disability.

Just hope some clever muzyturd does not find a way to stick an explosive suppository up a baby's bum and get it on an international passenger flight.

Then we will ban babies.

Using this logic, shouldn’t they also ban underwear and shoes?

Shhhhhh.

They are really that literal? It’s as if they are completely incapable of abstract thought.

This is gubmint’s response?? To ban what didn’t work last time. How about all those other everyday devises that are being worked on by al kida’s ‘best and brightest.’

It is just a matter of time before airline passengers will be required to fly naked, take no luggage and submit to being bound into their seats.

Those charged with ‘protecting’ us do not yet see this fight as existential. We will not win on defense.

I hope all this banning will be another encouragement to recomence manufacturing a lot of stuff in this country. We’ll have to pay a little more, but the up side is less money spent on transport fuel costs, more jobs, etc. Of course, top managment may have to cut their overinflated salaries a bit in order to sell US manufactured products at competitive prices. Poor little rich guys.

I have a recurring image of two al Qaeda leaders looking at each other with puzzled expressions and one saying to the other: "How did these infidels ever conquer anything?".

Unbelieveable I always take a toner cartridge with me everywhere I go. Never know when you’ll need a toner cartridge when you’re on vacation. < /sarcasm>

The Jihadis have WON.

How far away is an Ipad bomb?

And remember the Saudi jihadi, a “reformed” jihadi who almost killed a Saudi Intelligence minister? The bomb was stuffed up his keester. It went off too quickly.

The new Xray machines don’t go under the skin.

If we ever have a rectal bomber, what’re we gonna do then.

Right on.

You’d think they might want to ban explosives instead. And, for what it’s worth, continuing to allow cartridges on planes at least gives them a logical place to look for, and maybe even find, the explosives. But no...let’s give them the opportunity to hide them in a new place, probably one that nobody would ever expect.

This like the news a couple of years regarding the discovery of a tunnel from Tijuana to the US, used for the transport of both drugs and aliens.

On the dissemination of the story throughout the media, Senator Dianne Feinstein quickly proposed a law that would make such tunnels illegal.

And, by the way, just last week, another tunnel was discovered. Way to do, DiFi.

Isn’t this ‘profiling’?

Yeah, especially since most cartridges are BLACK and they can't speak English.

In addition, cargo flights from Somalia and Yemen are banned, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said.

Time to start banning people from these places, including Pakistan, as well.

Well that's one way to bring the business back home.

So much for being a road-warrior....

When will laptops and cell phones be banned?

Can iPODS be far behind?
