Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) cost the GOP control of the Senate, a powerful House Republican said.
Rep. Spencer Bachus (Ala.) said that Tea Party-backed candidates whom Palin endorsed underperformed against their Democratic rivals, costing the GOP key pickup opportunities.
"The Senate would be Republican today except for states [in which Palin endorsed candidates] like Christine ODonnell in Delaware," Bachus said at a local Chamber of Commerce event last week, the Shelby County Reporter wrote Sunday. "Sarah Palin cost us control of the Senate."
Bachus' is one of the most visible Republicans to criticize Palin for her political activity during this election season. Some Republicans have privately groused that Tea Party-backed candidates who were not electable prevented the GOP from taking control of the upper chamber.

He couldn’t be more wrong.
BS!
If the RNC helped O'Donnell as much as they first tried to hurt her, she would have had a very good chance of winning. Palin had nothing to do with it.

Wasn't he one of the ones that has been saying all along that Republicans had no chance of taking the Senate.
Nobody was voting for the GOP. They were voting against Democrats or for the Tea Party.
He cites Maryland where the GOP establishment and even Karl Rove did everything they could to undermine the candidate??
Tell me how much Bachus did for O’Donnell??
The RINO’s better fear the Grizzly Mama.

Palin didn’t back Angle in the primary.
LLS
Leave it to the establishment Republicans to turn a tremendous victory into a defeat!
BS.
Her picks won more than they lost and frankly even in those places where they lost they came ever closer than dreamed possible.
Palin inspires the base while the Republican party would love to see her muzzeled and removed so that the “good ole boys” that make the decisions at the driving range and paid their dues can get what they are entitled to. The Republic party for being anti-Union sure acts almost like one, Senority and all. It’s people like Bachus that brought us McCain, Dole................
Spot on! This dupe goes on my 2012 list of RINOs to be primaried.
Sarah Palin is like RINO truth serum...Or RINO cryptonite.
He just made a major political miscalculation.
It’s going to suck being him when she’s President.
I’d be willing to bet she gored an ox of his at some point and now he’s afraid she’ll get enough influence to let everyone know how many oxen he has wondering around that no one pays any attention to.
JMHO
Regards
Idiots likes this is why we have Obama.
Right on target. Voters did NOT choose REPUBLICANS. They voted AGAINST Democrats provided they were given a clear choice. The RNC, and people like this “senator” withheld their efforts regarding the “tea party” candidates. They cost their party countless votes and they cost their party uncounted thousands of dollars. Those dollars were donated, but NOT to either of the traditional parties.
Palin had a mixed record, though more often successful than not. Her biggest prize was Nikki Haley in SC. Her most fatal mistake was COD, which was not only a loss but a downballot disaster in DE.
That said, Palin badly miscalculated in her home state — proving she cannot carry water there. That type of experience can be disqualifying. By contrast, Thune got Noem elected statewide in SD.
I dont know about control but it definitely didnt help get us there
I am sorry but Christine “I am not a witch and neither are you” O’Donnell was a loon. if you have to defend comments regarding past witchcraft usage you have pretty much lost the narrative. Castle probably (though not definitely) would have won giving GOP 48
Sharon Angle was in no way ready for prime time
every other word out of her mouth generated negative press that Reids team capatilized on. Nevada ran the only person who could lose against Reid for crying out loud
this cost us another probably though by no means gauranteed win which would have made it 49
Bachus — the enemy within.
Unfortunately arguing this point is kind of like debating who was the greatest heavyweight champ of all time: we will never, ever be able to say with any certainty.
Yet, for what it’s worth, I hasten to add that I believe he is dead wrong. I believe the GOP establish — led by Pudge Rove — cost us the Senate by their savagery towards COD. They only meant, of course, to kill off a Sarah protege. But, they went so far over the edge that they brought scorn upon Angle as well. Sort of a guilt by female association effect.
Bachus needs to be primaried.
Like Bob Inglis was.
GOP to conservatives. Shut up and vote for our RINOs. On the other hand when a Tea party person loses, we’ll not keep quiet. It is for the good of the party.
She sold the state aircraft dedicated to the governor. That said a lot. She negotiated with the oil producers. She speaks clearly, she is not fat or ugly; she has got lots of opinion about god and country that offends the left. I am happy to support her even if she is a pro-war.
1) He’s wrong
2) Not taking control of the Senate was a blessing. The Dems are still in control. What’s coming in 2011 is on them.
Thune is the ultimate safe careerist, a non-leader who is just the opposite of what we need in 2012. The GOP Establishment mucked up Alaska as well as Delaware—in part because they wanted to make your argument, that Palin was responsible.
ODonnell is in Delaware.
RINOs = democrats.
RINOs don’t give a rat’s patootie about Republicans.
Republicans also have their highest # of legislators on a state level since 1928. What else is there but the "Tea Party"? No matter how much the establishment Republicans might want to paint a cloud in the bright sky, they can't.
OK... I messed up... I should get an app for that... heh
LOL!
Sarah Palin has been the backbone of the GOP. If she hadn’t incorporated the tea party with the GOP, democrats would still be ruining this country unchallenged.
Who is this man? Never heard of him
Piss off, Bachus. The only reason you incompetent BOOBS are being given a second chance is because of the Tea Party and those of us who think like Sarah Palin.
If you’re not going back the conservative wing of the Republican party (and that IS Sarah’s side, chump) then have a great big mug of STFU.
Useless Republican ticks like Rep. Spencer Bachus (Ala.) underperformed against their Democratic rivals friends which is how we lost congress in the first place.
Sarah’s endorsements are part of a long-term strategy to oust liberal Republicans and move the GOP back to the right. If the conservative candidate loses, so be it, but over time people will understand that liberal policies just don’t work and will be more inclined to vote for a conservative. This is something that Bachus simply doesn’t understand, or maybe he does and is upset at Palin’s influence.
We will not forget this crap.
Palin did not miscalculate in Alaska, she won that primary and Miller should have gone on to win the election, no one anticipated that Murkowski would mount a write in as an independent, and then be endorsed by the GOP Senate.
And another potential "R" vote for cap and trade, so Dingy can claim 'bipartisanship' for that sh!t sandwich. No thanks.
IMO, Castle would have easily bested COD in the primary had he renounced his House vote and promised to vote against c-and-t in the lame duck. Alas, he's a true believer enviro-nut, so the GOP base sent him packing.
(Not that Coons would be any better, but with the Bearded Marxist in place, the 'Rats have one more neck to hang BHO's failures around).
Nonsense!
Palin (actually, Tea Party America) won us the House, 6 more seats in the Senate, 680 state legislative seats and 9 additional governorships, and no telling how many other positions in other state and local races!!
The Tea Party is the best thing to happen to the Republican party since Lincoln!! It’s breathed new life into the otherwise dying moribund GOP!!
We could have done a little better in the senate races had the Republican elite helped out a bit rather than bad mouthing our candidates 24/7!!
Good to know they’re beginning to recognize the power of Sarah Palin and the Tea Party. We have them in a panic!!
And we’ll be gunning for even more seats in 2012 and beyond, including the White House!!
It’s open season on corrupt bastards, good ‘ol boys and other assorted RINOS and turncoats!!
Rebellion is brewing!!
Go, Sarah, GO!!
Bachus is obviously a fool.
RINOs cost us the White House. They need to get the message that we’d rather lose with principled conservatives than lose with compromising, feckless wimps that call themselves Republicans. The Tea Party can’t win them all, but kowtowing to the MSM won’t win at all.
Bachus’ seat must be targeted for 2012. Where do I donate?
RINO hunting is such fun sport...

I'm not voting for Palin in 2012, but I'm blaming the NRSC. These dips**ts endorsed Crist and Specter early on.
I won’t give a DIME to the GOP establishment....only to conservative individual candidates, especially ones endorsed by the Tina Fey look-a-like...
Adding names to my S-list.
