This looked like one of the pieced-together shows like 60 minutes with the capability of rearranging questions and answers as well as inserting commentary after the interview. Many hours of interview condensed into a one-hour show leaves a lot of room to emphasize and omit as the producer chooses. For example, Lauer, commenting on the 2000 election said....hanging chads, a divided court, a rough road to the White House, a road made rougher, he(Pres. Bush) admits, by his own missteps. This long sentence makes it seem that missteps during the election were related to GWB's drinking, which was the next topic.
It's a tribute to Pres. Bush's intelligence that he could come out of so many hours of questioning looking as good as he did when the goal was to make him look bad. Rush is right when he insists on live-broadcast interviews only.
The set looked like the police station interrogation room from Law and Order. Why can't Republicans bring a tech person with them to check set, lighting, etc. It allows for so many awful pictures.
It was actually better than I thought it would be. Well done.
Did you notice how the interview room was made up to look like an interrogation room for a criminal?
