DUNN: Hell hath no fury like a Palin scorned
The Washington Times ^ | November 8, 2010 | Charles W. Dunn

Posted on 11/08/2010 9:01:05 PM PST by Bratch

"Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned." The Republican establishment would do well to learn from William Congreve's famous line in "The Mourning Bride" (1697) and even more from the accurate reading of his line: "Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned / Nor hell a fury like a woman scorned."

"Stop Sarah Palin" is the battle cry of establishment Republicans, according to Mike Allen and Jim VandeHei in Politico: "Top Republicans in Washington and in the national GOP establishment say the 2010 campaign highlighted an urgent task that they will begin in earnest as soon as the elections are over: Stop Sarah Palin."

While Mrs. Palin is no Ronald Reagan, she does possess many of Reagan's attributes, which she could turn loose on the Republican establishment.

Sarah Palin and Ronald Reagan appear poles apart in their backgrounds, but appearances are deceiving. Before coming to the center stage of national politics, Mrs. Palin was a small-town mother of five and governor of Alaska, and Reagan, a Hollywood actor and governor of California. But these and other dramatic differences mask surprising similarities, which could merge at the intersection of time and circumstance for Mrs. Palin, especially if the Republican establishment continues to scorn her.

The Republican part only cares about their power and their corporate masters. The people need to abandon the establishment party and come back to real moral conservatism.

Establishment RINOs had better pick a battle they can win. Karl Rove has already lost ALL credibility with millions of conservatives for his scurrilous comments about Sarah (and Christine O’Donnell).

She’s helped a huge wave of new Tea-publicans win office, and for every one of them, there are hundreds of thousands of hard-core conservative activists. She’s got an army that the establishment RINOs should think twice about crossing.

There they go again...

“a third-rate Hollywood actor who lacked the intellectual depth and educational training to serve successfully as president. Now they say much the same about Sarah Palin”

I ask you - just WHO is the arbiter of the amount of “intellectual depth” and “educational training” that is needed to serve successfully as President?

Joe Biden?
Bill Clinton?
Albert Gore?

We hear this all the time...that so-and-so (ALWAYS a Conservative) just might not be smart enough to be President. We heard it about G.W. Bush, we heard it about Reagan, and now Palin is the subject of scrutiny.

WHO are these people who get to decide and who gave them such powers?

Can you imagine someone saying something like “That Joe Biden - nice fellow but he just might not have the intellectual capacity to serve as President”?

Actually, that’s exactly what the liberals want. A GOP civil war. If the GOP tears itself apart from a brutal primary season, Obama will cruise to re-election.

And don’t discount the fact that liberals will be more than happy to tamper with the GOP primary in the open voting states (in other words in some states you do not have to be a registered Republican to vote for the Republican primary).

This will not be as easy as you think.

All of your points are correct. I would add only that the ‘army’ she has is very, very, very tired of being spun by party hacks at this point. The Reagan revolution was deliberately subverted, and here we are having to start over again.

We will not be fooled this time, nor will we be forgiving when it is attempted.

It also won't be as hard as you think. The game of US politics has entered a whole new era, my friend, and the citizen rebellion on the right is driving it.

Yes, we have to continue to do the things that are winning, and we can never take our eyes off the despicable libs, but nothing is as it was. A page of history has now turned, and we're never going back to where we were.

Of course we shouldn't be over-confident, but I'd caution against under-confidence, as well. That way lies failure.

The establishment side of the GOP is trying to divide the party and lose elections, Palin needs to reign them in, and bring them back to the team.

Reading Ronald Reagan in His Own Hand, one quickly becomes aware that he was the greatest intellect to serve in American government.

Reading Palin’s essays and op-eds one begins to see that she is very much in that same league.

Ivy League ‘education’ cannot replace pure intellect!

Maybe that wasn’t a misspelling, but a different kind of slip.

That's exactly right.

JD Hayworth is on Rusty Humphries' show making that very point as I type. The real America has been awakened from its long slumber, and we're now hyper-alert to the treachery of the liberal Dems. As JD just said, we've got to "keep the kettle on the boil".

I have no doubt that we will, because the liberals won't go quietly. They're just going to step up their game, which will cause us to step up ours. This ain't gonna end until somebody wins, and somebody loses. My money's on the good hats.
