WASHINGTON (AP) -- General Motors is recalling nearly 14,000 sedans to address potential problems with power steering. And Chrysler is recalling about 16,000 Jeep Liberty SUVs to fix faulty windshield wiper systems.

[Snip]

GM's recall involves certain 2010 and 2011 model year Cadillac DTS and Buick Lucerne sedans with V8 engines.

An alternator cable could wear through a power steering line, leading to a fluid leak that could cause a loss of power steering and lead to a crash.

They just replaced my entire rack and pinion system on my 2008 Malibu LTZ with 33k miles. Covered it under warranty even though it was 3k over.

Other than that, it's been a great car.

My husbands ‘08 Ford F150 P/U had an acceleration problem 2 weeks ago. He had the brake all the way to the floor and the engine was racing and the truck wouldn't stop until we crashed into a car stopped at a red light. No one was hurt but it happened again before we could get to the GM dealership to buy a Cheve truck. It was a terrible day that I hope I never have to repeat.

The cars are safe - it’s the Corporate Ownership (gummint and unions) that’s dangerous....

These are built I’m Mexico. That’s right they took 6 billion dollars of our taxes and built 2 new Jeep plants in mexco. I will never buy a car made in mexco.

It’s that legendary attention to detail at GM.

My 2002 Bonneville had the intermediate steering shaft replaced 3 times in 10k miles, (from 22k to 32k).

That Bonneville is the reason I’m now driving a 2008 Acura TL. The TL is the car the Bonneville should have been. The cars are aimed at the same demographic, and they both have a similar feel. That’s where the similarity ends.

BTW, if anyone is going to whine about foreign cars, my Acura was made in Marysville, Ohio.
