The Top Ten Reasons Why Conservatives Should Not Be Celebrating the Election Results
The American Thinker ^ | Robert Eugene Simmons Jr. | Robert Eugene Simmons Jr.

On November 2, 2010, the liberals suffered a defeat at the hands of the people over their policies implemented over the last two to four years. As a result, Many Republicans and Tea Party supporters are jubilant in their celebration, and even the often morose Glenn Beck has been heard to be excited about what he calls a turning point. However, the cold, hard reality is that liberalism suffered a defeat but not a crushing one, and the war is far from won. In the past, victories in these minor skirmishes have resulted in people becoming complacent. The battles that are not making the headlines in the war on freedom continue to rage despite the victory.

Although it may not be festive to rain on the victory parade, it is important that we consider the top ten reasons why there is a lot more work to be done.

10) The aristocracy is still there in Washington. Although many incumbents were swept out of office, the vast number of them were reelected by their constituents. The ruling elite is still composed of self-styled aristocrats who know what is best for you, your family, and your children. They still look down on the masses as unwashed and slightly stupid. They still possess the same arrogance that allowed them to pass TARP and the auto bailouts over such huge numbers of people in bipartisan opposition. The bribery and corruption is still there and as virulent as ever. Furthermore, the aristocracy in Congress still exempts itself from laws it imposes on the serfs. Although term limits for all federal offices could go a long way in solving this problem, no directive to this effect was passed on the 2.

09) The bureaucracy in Washington has never been more powerful.

I definitely agree with #1. Public education is always high on Marxist’s wish lists. Right now they are teaching millions of children how to be good little citizens of the state. Plank 10 of Section II of the Communist Manifesto.

The biggest problem is that the American people do not have enough patience for the one’s in charge. They get sick of the party in office way too fast. I worry that 2012 will go Republican and then the American people will give it back to the Democrats either 2014 or 2016.

By next year you will start to notice that the supermarket shelves are looking bare on certain days. You will start to wait for shipments of certain things to come in. This will be one of the first warning signs. This always happens in Communism. You will have to place needed hardware and appliances on a backorder list and wait for their arrival. The Death Spiral will not be stopped by our present leadership. Eat Drink and be Merry.

Actually, we are already starting to see some of this, along with huge inflation.

You may have a point on the national level...but look at the states and localities which have had one-party rule for decades.

Agreed: 11/2 was just the end of the beginning of the Second American Revolution under the chapter heading, “The Republic Strikes Back.”

But I disagree it was a “minor” victory.

It was the electoral D-Day.

The battle is joined and woe to the wicked!

Exactly!

This victory was historic. Anyone trying to say otherwise doesn't see it for what it is. Here in Wisconsin we had 60 out of 73 counties turn red in this election cycle.

We have gained some measure of control in Washington. But it is akin to being ushered onto the bridge of the Titanic... After it hit that big white thing.

While this list of ten caveats gives rise in some people to accusations of negativeness, still they are all true and what they say is “Don’t be complacent. Don’t stop praying. Don’t stop fighting.”

This guy has it exactly backward. All of his points are reasons we should be giving praise to God that conservatives have taken the House and can now start to deconstruct the socialist monster the Democrats have built.
If we had NOT taken the House it would be time to think about moving to an island somewhere and starting over.
This is very transparently a piece by a guy trying to draw attention to himself.
It’s kind of like (but not the same of course - just kind of like) saying “Too bad we won the Super Bowl now we won’t get any good draft picks next year!”

I’ve said for years it would come down to civil war with the Left.

It would appear my Cassandra feeling was right on target.

"Always with the negative waves Moriarity. Can't you say something righteous and hopeful for a change?"

Most of what this guys says is true, but it really is time to celebrate for a bit (and then get back to work). Complaint #4 is just stupid-- the GOP won't take control of the House until January! And as for the "Lame Duck" complaint, were we supposed to let the Dhimmicrats win? There is always the danger of Lame Ducks running amok when Congress changes hands.

I celebrated heartily in 1994 when the Republicans took control of Congress. I was to be disappointed at it’s failures. I merely breathed a sigh of relief last Wednesday morning. I was disappointed at the GOP’s failure to take the Senate, but relieved that we may have slowed, or even stopped the Obama express.

But, more than anything, we need to be ready to roll up our sleeves a work harder to roll back the government.

I’m afraid it was a Pyrrhic Victory. Here in NC, where a lot of Libtards from WI, MI and other northern economic wastelands, fled, nearly all of our US Congressional seats remained solidly BLUE. In this current climate, just under 50% of eligible voters came out to vote.

NC-2 (Ellmers) is only slightly in play, but if other Dem recount efforts our an indicator, I suspect their Shylocks will run Renee out of cash. The good citizens here are doing our best, despite limited support from the national and local “party.” The problem is, cash is king in business and elections, and Team Soros has us outclassed.

Further, the formerly RED states in the Rockies are now wavering b/c of all the jerks from CA who are migrating/slinking/running away from the fruits of their stupidity. Once they destroy the last bastions of economic growth in this country, the game is over. We will be no better than Haiti.

I still think Americans will overcome this. We have a history of rising to the occasion. We survived Woodrow Wilson and FDR.

With God's blessings I think we'll be fine.

I believe that's the author's point. With the Democrats still controlling the senate and the executive branch, there isn't going to be any deconstruction. At best a fair number of Democrat construction projects will be slowed, and a few may even be halted, but don't kid yourself: With two branches of government still under their control, government will continue to grow over the next two years at least.
