Michael Steele draws first challenger in RNC Chair race (hallelujah!)

Former Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saul Anuzis announced this morning that he will run to be chairman of the Republican National Committee, becoming the first -- though almost certainly not the last -- candidate in the race against Michael Steele.

"We cannot be misled by our victories this year," Anuzis wrote in an announcement posted on his blog. "Chairman Steele's record speaks for itself. He has his way of doing things. I have mine."

Anuzis, clearly hoping to emerge as the choice of the anti-Steele forces within the 168 member Republican National Committee added that "I will NOT strive to be the voice or the face of our party" -- seeking to draw a direct contrast with high profile (and gaffe prone) current chairman.

This is the second time Anuzis is making a bid to lead his party. He ran and lost in 2009, dropping out after the fifth ballot.

I think Micheal Steele has been fighting the insiders and the ruling class...he’s coming thru okay...he does not run the RNCC nor the RNSC .....Sarah Palin likes him as does C.ODonnell....they must see something in him to support him....

I’m no fan of Steele at all, but the only alternative with a chance would be an anti-Palin Establishment ringer, and that could be the begining of the end for the Republican Party. Steele is probably smart enough to wrap himself in Palin’s skirt, so to speak, as long as she is ascendant.

Saul Anuszis presided over the MIaGOP for several years. His attitude toward overthrowing clowns like our two senators, Karl Lenin and (She’s hardly L’il) Debbie Stabenow, could best be summed up as, “They said it couldn’t be done, so I never tried.” Lenin has been in the senate so long he has a trail that could be exploited. Even when his fellow marxist, Clueless Jenny Granholm was leading us into the toilet, Lenin did nothing to bring our tax dollars back to Michigan to help keep us a little above water. Anuszis is not a winner and never has been and Republicans should run like hell from him on the national level.

This Saul Anuszis is the culmination of several decades of the AmWay MLM scam overtaking the entire infrastructure of the Michigan GOP, and electing one of their own frauds to lead the organization, from what I’ve heard.

We do seem to have our fair share of that or the RINO Schwartz/Milliken/Snyder out to lunch bunch. But at least Anuszis supported one of our congressional candidates that won last trip out so that makes him golden in some minds.

Steele definitely has had some problems but he respects the Tea Party and is willing to partner with it.

My guess is that the next RNC chair will be a tool of Establishment RINOs (particularly Karl Rove and Ed Gillespie). They are even talking about bringing back Mike Duncan, who presided over the 2008 debacle.

One look and the fact he’s from Michigan, makes my gut say no way.

Whatever our support is worth, I think we should take our cue from Sarah. I advocate "Draft Palin" not because I'm certain that she is the best possible person for president but because I'm sure she is good enough - and I don't want to allow "better" to be the enemy of good enough.

Establishment Republicanism could get us a re-enactment of the 1912 election - in which a third second party split from the Republican Party, and placed second in the general election. The winner: Woodrow Wilson.
