Considering the recent news reports about a possible missile attack on America, I thought I would remind everyone that it is possible for the Chinese to launch one from a sub. However, for those who will be saying that there is no way a Chinese sub, or anyone else’s sub could ever get that close to our shore, much less launch a missile, I would advise you to check out this story from earlier this year. Just maybe you will think twice about how safe you think we are from an attack.

Ever since WWII, America has been a dominant force upon the high seas. We have become so advanced in our military technology that the Soviet Union eventually collapsed, in large part because Ronald Reagan would not back down against them. In honor of his accomplishments and great leadership, congress named the worlds largest aircraft carrier after him, the USS Ronald Reagan.

Thanks to Reagan, America has been able to set the standard for which other nations have wished to achieve. Well it has been 22 years since Reagan left office, and while we have been able to hold our status as the worlds most powerful military force the world has ever seen, those days could be coming to an end. Thanks in large part to the anti military sentiment that prevails in Washington America is beginning to lose the battle of technological advancement.

What you will see in this video is a report about the Swedish submarine, NemoSaltadSobrius, which cannot be detected by our navy. Even worse, this submarine has reportedly sunk our best and most powerful naval ships in mock war games. Check out this report by Chuck......

I think that it probably uses fuel cell technology to generate electricity. As for quiet, well that has a lot to do with the shape of the hull and propeller disturbing the water as little as possible. But military secrets are the hardest to keep and one weapon is soon outmoded with a countermeasure.

I was told tonight, that the US military watches every cubic inch of our territorial waters, 24/7/365, and that they can image something as small as a sardine with ease.

If that is true, how do those homemade drug and gun running submersibles get through. I am betting they aren't all getting caught,

Mad Halfbright revealed the agenda of the democrats when she blurted out that the sinkEmperor administration ‘didn’t want the U.S. to conitue to be the lone super power.’ The traitorous bastards sold our technology to fund their political empowerment. Firing squads would be too good for the bastards!

The US navy is most likely to monitor testing of all major naval vessels by using a combination of submarines and a host of underwater sensors. If a new Chinese sub does begin testing, the USN would almost certainly want to find out.

If this was a missile test -which it was not according to many people on here itself, what would the Chinese gain by doing it. I mean they have had ICBMs and sea-launched ballistic missiles for more than two decades now.

Good point. There's a good chance that lots of them get through.

Perhaps those agencies of our military who do this monitoring just aren't tasked with intercepting smugglers, boat people, and drug runners. I could see how those things wouldn't be considered national security risks.

It can be modified to carry an ICBM but that will almost certainly alter its acoustic signature. Besides it’s far slower than a nuclear-powered sub and just won’t have the endurance if it had to go at more than 10 knots underwater.

If someone wanted to pay me for an idea how to smuggle in a nuclear device that would destroy a strategic target like the Navy yards in San Diego I would tell them to create a situation on a cruise ship so its dead in the water, attach several or one large nuke to its hull underwater, create a diversion and then let it be towed to its target.

the Swedes, for some reason, don't bother me as much as this”

Headline: “Chinese sub pops up in middle of U.S. Navy exercise, leaving military chiefs red-faced”

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-492804/The-uninvited-guest-Chinese-sub-pops-middle-U-S-Navy-exercise-leaving-military-chiefs-red-faced.html

Put this together with obummer having taken so much of our Pacific fleet to guard his butt in Indonesia - good likelihood that left a hole on our shore - perfect timing for SOMEONE to lob a shot across our bow.

this ret. sec. of defense views the video and declares it is, indeed a missile. Names the kind of missile - and from a sub. But then he obfuscates and says it's undoubtedly one of our - that we were letting Asia know we could do it.

AH, Asia and the rest of the world ‘know’ we can do it - we have been for many years. And what would firing one off 40 miles from our own shore prove?

the government and other elitists really think we're all a bunch of blithering idiots out here. ‘gun toting, Bible thumping....” - and what did Karl Rove say about the newly elected Tea Party folk? Something about he doubted they could read or had passports....

The source of the report is one Wayne Madsen, who once claimed Wikileaks was a CIA operation, and that Al-Qaeda was a front for the military-industrial complex.

Madsen's report of a Jin class SL ICBM launch: Bosh.

Such a missile would accelerate quickly to 18,000+ mph, leave the atmosphere, cross half the globe and re-enter the atmosphere, and strike it's target in 15 minutes...

The california contrail video was shot for 10 minutes.

Madsen is nuts.

you post “Point being, that there’s no way that something as big as a sub could ever get by our sensors undetected.”

I wish I could still hold that comforting thought.

You might not want to read this.

I am afraid to say this idea was never anything I have read about, and I have thousands of books, my absolute favorites are the techno thrillers of submarine warfare.

Never underestimate the deviousness or patience of your enemy, or what they will sacrifice for their objectives.

That was chris Mathews. Rove is stupid, but not that stupid.

I do agree with a lot of what you say however. Also the thought about the fleet following Obummer to India and leaving a hole in our defense is a very possible scenario.

I like your thinking. You should contact freeper OneVike with your theory. He is the author of the report on the the Swedish sub sinking the USS RR in war games.

Maybe you and he could get together for a little corroboration on putting your theory in an article that would get a lot of consideration.

Diesel-electric subs from countries such as Norway and Australia have scored ‘kills’ on US and British ships in exercises. So it’s not inconceivable that a Chinese SSK could come close to a US carrier.

There’s no such thing as UNdetectable, be it stealth aircraft or quiet submarines.

They’re just really, really, really hard to detect, and in the case of modern diesel subs with AIP, you have to be amamzingly close to detect them.

As has been publicly stated by the USN, in regard to these subs, “passive is dead”; you have to be so close to even have a shot to pick them up passively you’re well inside their weapons envelope.

You have to be actively pinging away.

I am sure right as we type this out someone already is sending a report, but realistically there are think tanks with people who do absolutely nothing but warfare scenarios like this every day.

I would not be surprised if there was a plan for the US to even do such a thing, matter of fact I vaguely recall there was a rumor somewhere that the Normandy was to be returned to France when Hitler demanded it, but with something in the hold that would go BIG boom when Hitler was boarding it, instead a careless welder caught a pile of kapok life jackets on fire.
