I hope she includes Laura Bush in her thank you speech.

ME too!

The President and First Lady (the real ones) have been working with Freedom Fighters in Burma (and elsewhere in the world).

They deserve part of the credit for this liberation. But neither will get the credit they deserve, nor will they seek it out.

Unfortunately we have ample evidence that I am right.

But they will quietly continue to do what's right, and work for the liberation of oppressed people throughout the world.

It certainly would be nice, though, if they got the recognition they deserved, wouldn't it?

A thank you for Laura would be refreshing.

Wonderful news, although I would wish the article could include a current photo of her. One can only guess the hell she’s been through.

He is totally pathological and a disgrace to this country!

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon praised Suu Kyi upon her release. "Her dignity and courage in the face of injustice have been an inspiration to many people around the world," Ban said in a statement.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said her freedom was long overdue. "Aung San Suu Kyi is an inspiration for all of us who believe in freedom of speech, democracy and human rights," he said in a statement.

Barry Soetoro: called Suu Kyi "a hero of mine" and said the United States "welcomes her long overdue release."

It's always about YOU Barry? Get a grip!!!

Amen to her release and what you said about Myanmar. I can’t believe the media allows itself to be manipulated like that. Yes, I can.

Yes, First Lady Laura the our President deserve much of the credit but like you said, they won’t seek it or say a word about their part. God bless them and Aung San Suu Kyi.

I was just about to ask when we reverted to calling Myanmar, Burma. I haven’t heard it called that since I don’t know when.

They could just refer to it as the "Country formerly known as Burma."

Tell me what you know. I always thought she was a communist being held by socialists. Odd situation in that regard. I have friends from there.
