School Responds: Boy Forced to Remove Flag for His Own ‘Safety,’ Can Fly it Again

School officials in Denair, CA have responded to the controversy surrounding a boy forced to remove an American flag from his bike on school grounds due to “racial tensions.” The school’s superintendent is now saying that the boy was told to remove the flag out of concerns for his safety, and that the school will allow him to resume his flag flying

From KTXL in Sacramento:

Ed Parraz, the Superintendent of the Denair School District told us a school supervisor asked Cody to take down the flag. The supervisor will not be fired or face repercussions. Parraz says the supervisor had information that Cody’s safety was at risk because of the flag. Some students had complained about it and had apparently made threats.

Parraz says they have decided to focus on those students who are causing the problem, not the flag. Cody is now allowed to ride onto school campus with Old Glory on the back. Parraz is aware of the outcry across the nation over this story. He says they embrace the American flag, they are patriotic, but that their main priority is keeping students safe.

Outrage over the initial story was immediate. Both Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh took time on their national radio shows to address it, while a woman from Texas pledged to send 1 million flags to the California school:

Which pretty much has nothing to do with my comments.

I have said nothing to indicate which side of this issue I’m on yet you seem to think you know.

Having served the flag in question I will says it’s a sad day when the displaying of it by anyone, anywhere is prohibited or curtailed. And, I’m a firm believer that if you come to this country no matter where from, you abide by our laws and understand fully the meaning of LEGAL.

If we loose the ability to distinguish between nationality, race or ethnicity in regard to any given question, we might end up looking a little like the coarse, ignorant bigots the left loves to say we ALL are.

What does my screen name say?

I believe the post was agreeing with your point of view...he is an American, regardless of race, or nationality. God Bless Cody, a great American!

If this is the case I totally misunderstood “Your screen name says it all” and I apologize for that. I still don’t understand it but I’ll just have to add it to the list. (Of things I don’t understand)

Title should be: School Responds, “We Thought Only Liberals had First Amendment Rights.”

Gee, radical decision — they have decided to focus on the students who were CAUSING the problem.

Long ago Justice stopped being what is right, and was perverted to what is convenient.

This is specially true of the most incompetent bureaucrats and "public" employees.

Unless they are seriously challenged, which they seldom are.
