TSA Pat Down...Mountain or Mole Hill?

Posted on 11/14/2010 10:01:10 AM PST by NCBraveheart

Question. Is too much being made of this TSA pat-down issue? I have been reading a lot of stories on line that this is tantamount to sexual assault under cover of authority. Are these X-Ray scanners that bad? I just have to wonder how we ever flew prior to 9/11. I am watching a YouTube video some guy caught on his phone after refusing a groin check what is scary is the recording over the PA in a soothing voice that security is everyone’s job. Very “1984” So what do y’all think??? Me, I am against it I think the TSA is a waste of tax money and and infringement of our liberty

Mountain. Frisking me or my family with your hands is not OK.

The "pat down" is garbage. Without a body cavity search they can't really be certain.

Also, if you walked up, stripped down, turned around for full views by all assembled, they'd arrest you.

The whole purpose is to get you to submit to the machine examination.

THAT is what we need an answer to ~ why that machine, and why just a machine. Is there something "special" about this machine that we need to know?

The entire department of homeland security is a waste of money and resources. Something that George Bush, that big government Republican, couldn’t resist I suppose.

It is HUGELY invasive and a very large deal indeed. Nobody grabs ME without a black eye. And to be done in the government’s name is just one more step in their power grab.

They can darned well study El Al and figure out how to profile. Else they will not have my business.

All those new machines...and the Muzzies switched to Cargo bombs.

And after we start scanning all that stuff, they'll switch to airport bathrooms.

And after that, they'll switch back to big buildings...etc etc etc...

My whole idea of flight security consisted of a 3 minute video (with imagery of planes striking the twin towers) explaining to the passengers that if anyone takes over the airplane, you will die, if anyone puts something together out of strange parts and lights it, you will die, and if anyone manages to make a hole in part of the plane, chances are you will die. Any questions? Now pick up your K-Bar at the gate as you board and have a nice flight...

Huge mountain.

Their procedures would get them arrested in any other setting. Who is going to submit their children to this? It means that our family will not be flying. A further hit to the economy.

And a bad trend, too. Seeing how much the public will take. One thing that makes it a bigger mountain to me is the number of people that say “it is necessary to keep us safe”. Sheeple.

And the thing about the x-ray machine is — in dental and medical situations, those are highly regulated and must be in working order. Will that happen in every airport in the world? Very doubtful. I am not wanting an x-ray every time I fly. And how many people will get cancer from them? And who do we get to sue for that?

Reminds me of my mom telling me about how there were X-ray machines in shoe stores when she was a kid, and they would get their feet x-rayed. Until people knew more about x-rays.

And ‘institutionalized groping’ — with all those TSA employees, half of whom are petty union tyrants obsessed with their teeny bits of power.

Believe me, this is definitely worthy of tea in the harbor.

Why do we have security problems in the first place? Mainly because of Islam. Solve that problem and security risks go away.

It’s a dry run by our gubmint to see how far they can push us. (kinda like the terrorist dry runs)
Looks to me like they’re getting some backlash from those who have finally had enough.

A bit of both but as usual both supporters and opponents are missing the big picture.

The big picture is the TSA’s ongoing security theater (to use one prominent columnist/bloggers’ term). The big picture is knowing who is responsible for terrorism and instead conducting searches of everyone EXCEPT the likely suspects. The big picture is poorly educated TSA agents being portrayed as crack law enforcement types. The big picture is a government making the ludicrous claim that they’ve had few complaints. The big picture is a government that mistakes activity for achievement.

It’s just one more thing we will become inured to ... unionized federal employees frisking citizens and doing full body scans would have been unbelievable 10 years ago, but now its just another encroachment, another insult to the idea of freedom, and another bit of social bowing at the alter of political correctness and total government power ... like many we make every day and that add up over the years.

We already work for the government 4-6 months out of every year, think of what’s left of the product of our work as “take home pay”, and let every politician lie knowingly to our faces every day.

We are herd animals on a government tax farm. There is no last straw.

Hey NCB...my ancestors in NC fought at Alamance and Kings Mountain over a lot less.

They even shot the officers in redcoats, shocking huh?

So you tell us.

My vote: Mountain. Big Mountain.
