“You can’t be a fiscal conservative and not be a social conservative. A large part of the expansive government is to take, make up for a disfuctional society because our culture is falling apart. The family’s falling apart.”
- Sen. Jim DeMint, Bret Baier interview Nov. 9, 2010

Amen to that! That’s why I’m wary of blue-state “fiscal conservative” types moving into conservative states, they can’t seem to make the connection that their “fiscal conservative/social liberal” stance is at least in part what brings about the higher taxes and tighter regulations they left their blue states to escape!

He almost had it.

An expansive government, through socialism, inevitably creates a disfunctional society through the destruction of the nuclear family and its traditional values that are needed for a cohesive society.

Well said, but a “states” issue. Let us get the Federal government out of it. It is NOT the job of the federal government to “fix” the social fabric.
