Yet, the rabid palin fans here keep telling me how brilliant it was for Precious to quit her job so she could devote her time to preparing for 2012.

You're ignorant because you get your information from random people on the internet instead of developing some critical thinking ability.

If Palin were devoted to becoming President (she's pretty obviously not) she would have remained governor, continued to build on her reformist credentials, made some targeted foreign trips, and delivered a series of policy speeches. In fact, she's done a little bit of the last, but that's it.

Her decisions make a great deal of sense through the lens of "what can I do to further conservatism and help Alaska and my family?" and not much sense in terms of "what can I do to get myself elected President?"
