A New York lawmaker is under fire for calling the police on a pair of 13-year-olds selling homemade baked goods in a local park.
Andrew DeMarchis and Kevin Graff were just trying to earn some pocket change by selling an assortment of cupcakes, brownies and Rice Krispies treats in a Chappaqua park.
But the middle school entrepreneurs were shut down by local police at the request of New Castle Councilman Michael Wolfensohn. He called the cops because the boys were operating a business without a license, according to The Journal News.
The police offer was extremely pleasant, Suzanne DeMarchis told the newspaper. He said he was sorry to have to do this, but that he was following up on a report filed over the phone by a town board member.
DeMarchis told The Journal News her son was so upset that he was crying all the way home.
He was worried if he was going to get arrested or have a criminal record, she said.
Wolfensohn said rules are rules, but concedes he may have gone a bit too far and should not have called the police.
In hindsight, maybe I should have done that, but I wasnt sure if I was allowed to do that, Wolfensohn told the newspaper. The police are trained to deal with these sorts of issues.
Freedom is dead in the northeast. Get out while you can.
I’m out of NYC as soon as it’s feasible for me.
“New Castle Councilman Michael Wolfensohn....called the cops...but concedes he may have gone a bit too far and should not have called the police.”
Wolfensohn told the newspaper. The police are trained to deal with these sorts of issues.
Why didn’t Wolfensohn go straight to SWAT? We can’t be having our children learning about capitalism.
But a person doesn’t need a license or permit to sell Crack in New York City...
Perhaps the lack of nutrition labels was what so concerned this councilman.
It’s important that everything be illegal. That way they can control us more easily.
licensing schemes are by and large protection rackets with badges, designed to prevent competitions. They serve established businesses.
I am up for every child experiencing the challenge of enterprise, the sense of accomplishment if they succeed...and the crushing effect of government. I like an educated electorate.
Operating a bakesale without a license = No way! Are you f****** crazy????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Being President of the United States without a birth certificate = no problem.
I just wrote this wretched little man and called him an idiot.
I am sure his next opponent will benefit from his stupid action here.
The good old tried and true tar and feathers should be put to use on this slimeball politician! The DA should file charges against him for filing a false police report. The slimeball politico may beat the rap, but re-election should be out of the question.
Everyone needs to get out...Lets all meet up in Hoxie Kansas!
Damned lawbreakers!!!
Reelection would only be affected if he was a republican, but with current msm rules, I did not see party mentioned in the article... so I can safely assume he's a democrap.
Charlie Rangel got himself reelected, with enough charges to put an average person UNDER the JAIL.
NY's new state motto:
"NY.. Can't afford to live here, Can't afford to MOVE!"
Bah. I’m staying. NY is NOT the Northeast. Let them move.
What a miserable b@stard.
Why couldn’t he just buy a cupcake (or not) and go on his bloody way?
Why did this turd think this was any of his business?
Geez. This guy is too stupid to breath.
What party does this putz belong to? I’d guess Democrat Party because it’s not mentioned in any of the articles.
everyone who lives within shouting distance of this man ought to have a bake sale at the same time. Let’s see if he calls the cops on everyone!
I checked and was shocked, shocked I say, to discover that Michael Wolfensohn the loser is a Dem.
