Cops Shut Down Child’s Bake Sale [Operating w/o license!]

A New York lawmaker is under fire for calling the police on a pair of 13-year-olds selling homemade baked goods in a local park.

Andrew DeMarchis and Kevin Graff were just trying to earn some pocket change by selling an assortment of cupcakes, brownies and Rice Krispies treats in a Chappaqua park.

But the middle school entrepreneurs were shut down by local police at the request of New Castle Councilman Michael Wolfensohn. He called the cops because the boys were operating a business without a license, according to The Journal News.

“The police offer was extremely pleasant,” Suzanne DeMarchis told the newspaper. “He said he was sorry to have to do this, but that he was following up on a report filed over the phone by a town board member.”

DeMarchis told The Journal News her son was so upset that he was crying all the way home.

“He was worried if he was going to get arrested or have a criminal record,” she said.

Wolfensohn said rules are rules, but concedes he may have gone a bit too far and should not have called the police.

“In hindsight, maybe I should have done that, but I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to do that,” Wolfensohn told the newspaper. “The police are trained to deal with these sorts of issues.”

As I understand this story, the Councilman didn't have the balls to ask the kids if they had a Business License before he called the Cops?

What a man this guy is. He hides behind the Police by saying they deal with these issues.

I wonder if this will make an episode of Cops?

This should be enough to end this clown’s political career.

If they were illegals, this liberal would have given them citizenship, social security numbers, free education and health care, and the keys to the city for doing the work Americans refuse to do.

Independent.

BA Curry College, Politics & American History.

More political despotism than American History, I'd say.

I saw he was an Independent. Went back and checked - page was from the 11/2005 election.

Guess he didn't get the memo that Independents swung away from tyranny and Democrats that last election.

OTOH, NY did go for Cuomo.

What would drive the Left crazy about that photo, is that it might actually leak out that the races get along as early as childhood, unless stoked by the education system, the MSM, and the Democrat party.

To hell with selling without a license. There are more important issues at play here for Democrats.

We got out! Never thought it would actually happen, but hubby got laid off in Aug - THAT AFTERNOON, we were planning our escape! He was the only one in his group that was grinning ear to ear!

Celebrating month #3 as a New Texan vs. New Yorker. Even though it was upstate NY... the liberalism was nuts.

I saw that listing too, but on another web page, he refers to himself as a Dem.

I was surprised to have hit a couple of “404” errors or equivalent so early in the “bad” news cycle.

Only if they slam the kids around, then beat them senseless for resisting arrest. That show, from the 10-20 seconds I've seen of it five or ten times, is mis-named. I'd call it "Pigs".
