Blind student saves for three years to buy a guide HORSE because her strict Muslim parents
Daily Mail ^ | 11/15/10 | Daily Mail Reporter

Posted on 11/15/2010 12:30:57 PM PST by Nachum

As a blind Muslim woman, Mona Ramouni has had to make do without a guide dog her whole life.

The 28-year-old's strictly religious parents would not allow a dog in the house, considering the animal unclean.

But then Miss Ramouni stumbled across a website article about miniature guide horses in April 2008.

'It was something that I never thought about for myself,' she said.

The psychology student used three years of savings from her job at a Braille proofreading company to pay for a horse to be trained to act as her guide.

Since welcoming three-year-old guide horse Cali into her Dearborn, Michigan, home last year, Miss Ramouni has seen her life turned around.

Yay for her, but as she’ll discover, she won’t bring the horse onto airplanes or into stores or restaurants the same way she would a dog. Dogs can be trained to poop where and when their opwner wants, horses...not so much.

In one of the pictures at the site, it kind of looks like the horse is wearing a device to catch excrement. Sort of a reverse feed bag.

Good luck getting horsie into a restaurant.

Depending on the restaurant, horsie's relatives may already be there.

Badump-ssshhh.

Thank you. I'll be here all the week. Please try the veal and don't forget to tip your waitress.

Great.

She will probably celebrate by bringing that thing into the first McDonald’s she runs across and that thing is going to drop the biggest manure pile some children will ever see right there in the queue line.

Ever seen a blind girl clean up a big pile of horse squeeze?

Me neither....

I love horses and I’m glad she has this one, but what a bunch of typical psycho-Islamic stupidness. Trust me on this, dogs are a lot cleaner and easier to take care of than a horse, even a mini.

Beautiful girl. Too bad she’s trapped in such an insane situation.

I’d rather have a horse than a dog any day, but it’s undeniable that there will be more problems (if only because fewer people have guide horses) and truly bizarre that her parents wouldn’t be more rational about this. Except, of course, that Islam extinguishes all rational thought.

I noticed that, but doubt store and restaurant owners, airlines and other places of business will allow a horse, with or without a bag o’ s**t hanging behind them. I dunno, but somehow I think sanitation laws will take precedence.

A seeing eye pot-bellied pig would have been a better choice. Oh, wait a minute...

Actually, horses can be housebroken and can be trained to let you know when they need to go out. The approach is a little different than training dogs, though.

I believe Misty was housebroken.

The advantage of a miniature horse as a service animal over a dog is their greater lifespan.

As the future King of England, and probably the world, my first act would be to declare her parents guilty of child abuse and to have them lashed 500 times in a public square and then to have a herd of small horses trample them to death as the crowds cheer! Of course, I’m just that kinda guy! Long live the King!

Is there not some exemption for dogs as working animals?

Dogs have been probably the most important working animal in history. The provided vital help in hunting, herding of animals, and protection long before even recorded history.

How did ancient Muslims heard sheep without the use of dogs? And if they were allowed to use them as working animals, wouldn’t that same logic apply to a seeing eye dog?

Braille on drive-thru ATM?

I drove blind parishioners to and from my dad's church. Once in awhile they asked to go to the bank and I pulled up to the drive-thru ATM so the rear passenger could use it.

Same way folks today do it in various countries. Couple of people and long poles or rods. I've seen lots of sheep herders, but never a fat sheep herder. I've seen kids doing it too - of course dogs help but are not necessary.

I kind of like the idea of a horse pooping in a Muslim house. People need to suffer the consequences of their ignorance. Pity the poor horse though, should it poop on a koran.

If this was a Christian woman denied a dog by her family based on religious grounds.....the Liberal Media would be attacking the family...and trying to put the family in jail....along with blaming all Christians, Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, The Pope, Billy Graham, etc....

But, Muslims always get a pass on things like this. The Faith of Hate and the Cult of Insanity always gets a pass on such cruelty

If Christians would start blowing up TV stations, pizza parlors, & sawing the heads off of the talking heads, the
media would leave them alone also. Much easier to attack those that won’t attack back.

Here in the US they’d have to since it’s a service animal and it doesn’t specify guide dogs. It can be a horse, monkey, etc. Guide Horses are in some ways better than dogs. They live longer among other things. they also can be housebroken, ride escalators (it really upset one of my dogs the first time I took him up and down an escalator). Here’s a web page: http://www.guidehorse.org/

I don’t know the law in England but here in the US they’d get sued if they didn’t allow the guide horse in. It’s covered by the Americans with Disabilities act. Also the horses are housebroken and any that aren’t able to pass this part are removed from the program.

Yay for her, but as she’ll discover, she won’t bring the horse onto airplanes or into stores or restaurants the same way she would a dog. Dogs can be trained to poop where and when their opwner wants, horses...not so much.

Guide horses are so successfully housebroken that they commonly fly in the passenger cabin of commercial aircraft and can reliably go on trips for up to six hours.
