Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison could be the first primary casualty of 2012.
The Texas Republican, after years of back and forth over whether she will or won't retire, will have to make a decision soon about 2012. Waiting in the wings are a slate of Republicans who have already spent two years eyeing the race, including some who are prepared to run against her even if she seeks reelection.
Hutchison was on the wrong end of a bruising, lopsided primary loss in March to Gov. Rick Perry (R) in which she saw her sterling public image take a big hit. Perry, who began the race as an underdog in the minds of many, nailed Hutchison over her vote for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) bailout and her ties to Washington. He wound up beating her by more than 20 points.
Before, during and after Hutchison's primary loss, she engaged in an extended will-she-or-won't-she-leave-the-Senate internal debate that has tried the patience of Texas Republicans and, some would argue, left her as damaged good for another political campaign.
Hutchison initially said she would resign in order to run for governor last year. But then her fortunes faded in that race, and Republicans in Washington urged her to stay in the Senate a little while longer in order to avoid a potential special election (which could have given Democrats a 60-seat, filibuster-proof majority). Hutchison said she would retire after the primary.
After her March primary loss, though, Hutchison said that she would serve out the final two years of her term, which expires in 2012. She made no more promises about retirement, and in May she said she wouldn't talk about it for the foreseeable future.

If she does NOT face a primary challenge, I will be very disappointed. She has been much too moderate (let’s say liberal for way too long) and needs to finally decide what her positions are... Have voted for her one time too many...
The sad fact is that a very large percent of people who get into politics do so because they think the people need better rulers -- not better servants.
Apart from being too moderate, she LIED about stepping down.
Well, that is such a small part of voting her out that I had not considered it... There are many more reasons - check her “moderate” voting record...
Get rid of her RINO hide.

What sterling public image? She’s the reason for the border fence not being built. She’s the one who allowed for all the law suits against it. I called her office back then and informed them she’d never get another vote from this house. Yes, she did lie about stepping down. She sold her DC house at a loss last year so she’d be ready to move into the Texas governor’s mansion, lol. Here’s to voting that RINO out.

Tax records show that her 4,300-square-foot house in McLean, Va., sold for $1.4 million on Oct. 2.
That’s about $170,000 less than she and her husband, Ray Hutchison, paid for it in 2006 and nearly $400,000 less than the original asking price in August 2008.
“They sold the home because she is no longer going to live in Washington, D.C.,” said Hutchison campaign spokeswoman Jennifer Baker. “She’s moving back to Texas to be the governor, and she looks forward to living in the Governor’s Mansion when it’s rebuilt.”
Just watch...the Texas R establishment will run another cipher who talks conservative but who is cut out of the KBH, Cornyn, Perry, and Dewhurst.
Only the bootlicking left-wing press would say such a thing about Kaye Bailey Hutchison's reputation.
If they'd bothered to ask even a handful of Republican voters in Texas, they'd know that her image ain't all that "sterling" here.
And for the record, she will run for re-election, and she will be defeated handily. She's not well liked.

Our state house just went from being 76R / 74D, to 99R / 51D.
In addition, our RINO Speaker of the House is about to lose his post, due to pressure from Republican voters on our legislators to replace him.
The 2010 Tea-nami swept through Texas big time, and is not slowing down. KBH will be gone in 2012. Bank on it.

Exactly! We won't pull an AZ and re-elect Juanita McShame Hutchison, my friend.
Our main gripe is that we didn’t actually have a good conservative alternative to Gov Goodhair. Instead, KBH ran. I’ve long had it with her, and not a fan of Cornyn either.
Look for our AG to run.
KBH gutted the secure borders fence act in the middle of the night to assist giving the democrats coverage. She is exhibit A in career politicians who are at odds with the very states that send them to congress. As a Texas taxpayer who is tired of footing the bills for anchor babies and illegal immigrant social services, I think she will be defeated easily if her opponent runs on this.
