God bless Marine Corps Commandant Gen. James F. Amos. Despite incredible pressure from the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of Defense, and the entire Washington-political-media complex, Amos is courageously standing up for his Marines. The man refuses to buckle and bow to the pressure.
The Chairman, the Secretary of Defense and the political-media complex all want to bully the Marines into accepting open homosexuality within their ranks. They simply cannot fathom why anyone would object to this “enlightened — [and politically correct] — view.”
Of course, there are very good reasons — rooted in human nature, human psychology, human sexuality and group dynamics — to oppose openly gay service.
But no matter: the ruling class elites and the popular culture have decreed that only “homophobic” retrogrades oppose this “progressive” measure. And anyone who objects, they insist, must be forcibly removed from military service — or, at the very least, removed from positions of military leadership
Think I’m exaggerating? Think again. In yesterday’s Washington Post, for instance, long-time columnist Richard Cohen declared that Amos should be fired and replaced by a new commandant committed to effecting open homosexuality within the Corps.
“If and when the [“Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”] policy is changed,” Cohen writes, “President Obama ought to see to it that Amos is not tasked with implementing it. At the very top, the Marines need one good man.”
Well, so much for an educated and intellectually engaged military. So much for military leaders providing policymakers and the public with their best military advice and counsel. And so much for liberal tolerance of “dissenting points of view.”
For Cohen and the Left, dissent is only sanctioned when it is politically correct and in accordance with the “progressive” agenda.
I have news for Cohen and the far Left.

The Lieberman Defense Authorization Act amendment provides the means to repeal U.S. Code Section 654 of Title 10 also known as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”. This amendment lacks merit in at least three areas. Repeal requires disregarding the First Amendment by legitimizing threats to confiscate the speech/expression and religious freedoms Chaplains and other service members. Homosexuality must also estrange itself from medicine and science in order to fabricate a discriminatory environment. Finally, arguments maintaining that open homosexuality will not hurt morale declaim the character of military operations.
Tens of millions of Jewish, Christian, and Muslim believers see their First Amendment rights vanishing with repeal. For many followers of desert religions, who send their pastors into the chaplaincy and their believers into military service, homosexual behavior is unacceptable. Instead it resides among the myriad sins entrapping humanity that lives in a fallen world.
For them foundational scholarship concludes homosexual relationships separate believers from God. The Old Testament, holy to “People of the Book”, speaks of the character, identity, and purpose of God in a manner, which continuously addresses homosexuality. God is identified as masculine, and all humans become feminine in relation to Him. In addition to creating all things, God created the single institution of heterosexual marriage as the earthy manifestation for the relationship of absolute unity and love He seeks with each person.
Classical Semitic theology emphasizes searching for and identifying with God in the spiritual dimension. Worthy actions and thoughts become those finding pleasure by reinforcing the faith commitment to this spiritual relationship. For Jewish, Christian, and Muslim believers any subsequent reasoning from scriptures must derive from that basic understanding. Therefore after repeal, when believers reject homosexual behavior in counseling rolls and normal life activities, these people reside outside Constitutional boundaries guaranteeing First Amendment freedoms to become guilty by popular acclamation of at least cultural prejudice, if not criminal behavior.
Advocates for repeal seek foundational credibility in the 1973 American Psychiatric Association decision (APA) to remove homosexuality as a mental disorder from the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual (DSM). Removal followed a two year campaign Newsweek described as ongoing disruptive, chaotic attacks on psychiatrists and physiologists. Yet throughout these disruptive attacks, no academic papers arose at conferences refuting any research previously done. Eventually onslaughts forced sufficient abstentions, under-votes, and apprehensive responses for a third of APA’s 17,000 plus membership to approve removal.
Next activists targeted leading individual researchers such as Dr. David Reuben to ensure perpetual sanctity for the APA action. No research papers would again arise to confirm initial therapy success rates of 30% to 60 %, substantiating that 7 of 10 homosexuals could eventually walk away from the lifestyle. Persistent activism over 37 years enabled ubiquitous infiltration of academia ensuring pre-ordained theses, approved flexibility in research designs, suitable human data points, and enchanting statistical enhancements.
Psychology and Psychiatry chose to relinquish scientific rigor for popular societal and political acclaim. With studies concerning homosexuality freed from objective analysis, advocates for social justice rely upon base antidotal politics to dominate debates.
My Representative, Peter DeFazio, presents a classic argument in favor of repeal, which betrays a basic misunderstanding of the essence of military service. He says, “The private, legal sexual conduct of military personnel off duty and off base, whether homosexual or heterosexual, should not be of interest to the Pentagon leadership. The bottom line is that an individual’s performance in uniform is what should count. Sexual contact on base is already governed by the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) - the judicial code that all military personnel are subject to”.
The current law recognizes maintaining high morale, good order and discipline, and unit cohesion requires extraordinary restrictions for environments characterized by sacrificial, primitive and intimate relations. Military operations are not conducted in garrison, and offer no opportunities for off duty or private time. Operating military personnel, locked in small task oriented units, forward deploy, and repeatedly face incredible stress if not actual combat. These environments are inherently chaotic and brittle, and can only be overcome by totalitarian leadership unimaginable in pacific situations.
The DOD can study this subject without legislation. These critical issues should not be subservient to any administrative plan to redefine military service using humanist social justice guidelines to fabricate an attachment to our Constitution and to dissemble concerning military operations. The primary issues to consider should be Constitutional speech and religious freedoms, and whether any mental disorders can be tolerated within the exceptional human structures needed to defeat enemies unconcerned with social alchemy. Such issues should be separately addressed, and the bill should be filibustered and rejected.
In this way, everyone wins; no one loses; and we can witness a healthy and instructive competition about whose values and traditions are better, more compelling, and more efficacious.
Don't even go that far! An "experiment" like that would lead Barney & the Boys down in DC to try to 'defund' any project closely identified with the US Marines. The Marines would be left with only knives & entrenching tools or they'd get folded into the Army.
A man enlists expecting his shipmates will be straight. then if they change the rules he is stuck until he finishes his hitch. It is not right to the enlisted men, and they are not going to reenlist. And homosexuals in authority promote other homosexuals. Forget about a career in the military if this goes into effect.

Male and female human genitalia are designed for union and procreation. That fact is indisputable. The genital organs are the source of intense pleasure for self gratification or perverse use that increases the risk of STDs, AIDS, and many other life threatening and shortening diseases, psychological damage, and mental health disruption. While male-male and female-female sexual gratification provide for unnatural union, they fail to provide for procreation. These sick people place sexual pleasure at the top of the list of what is important in life. That is clearly wrong.
The evil homosexual community, like Democrats and other Marxists, are simply attempting to force all of us into accepting their warped, twisted, and evil concept of a "perfect" society. It has never worked.
So this whiny little liberal Richard Cohen purports to threaten the Commandant of the Marine Corps with loss of career.
The Marine Corps tradition of courage under fire includes but is not limited to Tarawa, Guadalcanal, Saipan, Iwo Jima, and Okinawa. And then this little creep come along and talks of damaging a Marine’s future!!?
IMO, if General Amos approached Cohen just to shake his hand, the latter would probably faint dead away.

I will comment from my personal perspective. My son is 19 and in the infantry.
They are young, adrenal junkies, basically hard core, thick skinned with too much testosterone! You will find most of them were jocks or outdoors type growing up. Yes, they are trained to be very disciplined but they still think farting is funny, they play dead leg or made ya look, they look for reasons to punch each other, they call each other obnoxious names and are merciless. And whether anyone likes it or not Gay and Faggot are part of their vocabulary. Their mentality is not conducive to be politically correct.
The enemy of my Country and our way of life are getting nervous. The Marines are acting,and speaking like Marines ought.And when the white mice in the Pentagon toss crap in the fan directed at the Marines the Marines stand tall and have not quit.
