I can be hit with hunger issues in any single afternoon.
Seriously, I got cornered by the census, had to submit to this series of surveys back on W’s watch. The questions were entirely loaded to find any way in which you could possibly be classified as not having your fill of food at your fingertips or in your fridge 24/7.

Sorry libs, you can’t have it both ways. One minute there are MILLIONS of Americans going to bed hungry each night. The next we are big fat fatties that need big brother to tell us what we are allowed to eat because we are too stupid to figure it out ourselves.

This story is misleading on many levels. First, unless you are mentally ill or live in some remote region of the country, hunger is NOT an issue. Period. No question.
Rather, what this story points out is that when you give away free stuff, people take it. There are a lot of lazy people in this country who would rather go to a food bank then get off their arses and get a job. Same with food stamps and other transfer payments.
The press plays up the increase in people relying on public assistance as if its a sign that we are in a deep recession. Some of that is true but a lot more relates to the fact that we now live in a culture where it is acceptable to sit on your butt with your hand out expecting the government to house, feed and clothe you for free.

40M on food stamps out of 300M people.
A big pot of homemade soup, stew or chili costs pennies a serving compared to fast food. We have too many parents who no longer cook for their families.
They want to control health care as an in to prohibit all fun. Including food you like and recreational pastimes you enjoy that they consider risky. Remember these are the same people who gave us Prohibition.
The Hundred Year War by the Progressive State against human society continues apace...and it’s winning.
The Government has most folks convinced that all of these freebies from the State are “benefits” instead of the soul-destroying impositions that they actually are.

Now Food Stamp use indicates hunger. A few years ago it was a case of non-use indicating hunger. I wonder what changed.
A few years ago government bureaucrats studied a neighboring rural county. They concluded that most residents were “hungry” because even though they qualified for food stamps they didn’t apply for them.
What these city slicker bureaucrats didn’t realize (or ignored) was that these farmers all had kitchen gardens, chickens, hogs and cows for food. They had cash crops and worked side jobs for cash income. They were eating healthier than most city folks.
