Palin remains Presidential hopeful (Now they think they can read her mind!)

MARION -- The eyes of the GOP are now set upon the potential candidates for the 2012 Presidential race. Many names of viable candidates have been thrown around in this discussion. Names like Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty, Mike Huckabee, and multiple others have been mentioned.

However, one name that continues to stand apart form the crowd of names is Sarah Palin. The ex-governor turned political king and queen maker has used her popularity to make a large amount of money since leaving the governor’s office of Alaska.

Sarah Palin now travels around the country giving speeches at rallies and events for sums that are estimated to be more than $100,000 per event, according to an ABC News story written in April. She has written a book entitled Going Rogue that earned her a $7 million advance. Not to mention her new $1 million per year contract with Fox News.

Put it all together and you’ve got a happy ex-governor from Alaska that could care less about getting into the White House.

First of all, I think Sarah Palin’s reception to criticism is too faulty to take on the day-to-day challenges of being the President of the United States. If she couldn’t take the criticisms associated with being the governor of Alaska, how can we say that she would be able to take the criticisms from the White House, which are a million times worse than those of Alaska?

Also, Sarah Palin doesn’t have the experience or the knowledge of political issues needed to sufficiently manage the highest office in the land. Without trying to knock anyone, a communications degree from the University of Idaho doesn’t adequately prepare a person for the office of the President. A viable presidential candidate in my opinion should have at least some background in the study of politics or law, or at least enough experience in politics to compensate for the lack thereof. Let me remind you that the last US president to lack such an educational background as mentioned was none other than George W. Bush, a History major and MBA recipient at Yale and Harvard respectively.

Palin would find it very difficult to handle the technical details of legislation and decision making without the necessary background or experience.

But ultimately, the cash that Sarah Palin is raking in will be the top reason that she will keep her name off the ballot in 2012.

She is living life to the fullest at the moment and she does not plan on cutting this experience short. Well at least not any time soon. I think that she is satisfied with her current position as an influential political player in the conservative world, but without having to deal with the stresses of holding office. As far as running for office, Sarah Palin is probably done. But she will remain in the forefront of conservative politics as a figure with both influence and finances like a Karl Rove.

As far as the presidency goes, Palin is admittedly unqualified. But I am sure that Democrats around the nation are hoping that she suddenly has a change of heart and chooses to run for the office in 2012.

If she does choose to run, this could mean a fairly easy re-election for President Barack Obama.
