VIDEO HERE OF HOUSE FLOOR SPEECH
The text of Rep. Duncans speech is copied below:
A nationwide revolt is developing over the body scanners at the airports, and it should.
Hundreds of thousands of frequent fliers who fly each week are upset about getting these frequent doses of radiation.
Parents are upset about being forced to have their children radiated or being touched inappropriately by an unrelated adult.
There is already plenty of security at the airport, but now we are going to spend up to $300 million to install 1,000 scanners.
This is much more about money than it is about security.
The former Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, represents Rapiscan, the company which is selling these scanners to his former department.
Far too many federal contracts are sweetheart, insider deals.
Companies hire former high ranking federal officials, and then magically, those companies get hugely profitable federal contracts.
The American people should not have to choose between having full-body radiation or a very embarrassing, intrusive pat-down every time they fly, as if they were criminals.
We need a little more balance and common sense on this.
I never trusted "Wormtongue" Chertoff. He is a pimp.
The fascists in government don’t know what to do! It’s unheard of! The people are actually reacting and rejecting the overreaching intrusiveness of government! What will they try next to keep the folks down!
I hope the GOP follows "GropeGate" to the bitter end, and burns a bunch of thugs who need to be exposed for this blatant power grab and unconsitutional violation of the rights of the American people.
The more sunshine put on GropeGate, the worse it will get. You will find that TSA out and out lied about a lot of things, first and foremost being that they don't save scans.
Here is a little hint to buy a vowel: you can't use the scans as evidence in court unless they are saved, and those USB ports on the scanners are not for uploading Call of Duty games.
Blast away, or else by the end of the decade passengers will be forced to drink a laxative and then sit on a glass toilet bowl in public view until they crap.
When he first appeared on the scene during the Whitewater scandals, he seemed quite solid. He even disagreed with D’Amato in public, and pushing the correct agenda.
Then it seemed someone flipped a switch, and the guy was coming from an opposite direction.
I don’t trust the guy today farther than I can spit.
I don’t like seeing good people turned. Of course I may have misread his actions all along, but I don’t believe so. He wanted to go after the guilty. D’Amato was simply coasting to oblivion at that point, and a real jackass.
"A pilot from Skywest was going through security in Denver with his 18-year-old daughter and overheard a TSA officer saying into his headset, heads up, got a cutie for you.
Odumbo’s dministration will be hurt be this issue, the longer it goes on the effects will become more long lasting - just watch his college records, state senate records and other records will start to surface in the media. there will be people who will turn over iformation because the are tired of the extremes this dictator is striving to do. refuse to fly and inform the airlines that theyhave to stand up to the governmental intrusion
I applaud anyone who upholds the rights of the American people, and when they do the right thing, I applaud louder.
Here in NJ, the local legislature is telling the TSA that what they are doing is against the 4th ammendment, and TSA does not even know how to react.
If NJ is in the lead for this, I think TSA's groping days are numbered.
Yeah, but watch for the 'head fake.' If (heaven forbid) there's a bad terrorist event, Obama may very well try to hang the whole thing around the Republican's necks because they objected to these sexual assault body searches.
I'm not saying it'll work. I'm just saying I expect them to try it.
The Community Organizer is a little slow on the uptake.
So Chertoff is making money off these scanners. Who would have thunk it?
I can’t stand that piece of crap Chertoff. He is an enemy of the American Republic.
By the way, I was reading some of the posts over at flyertalk.com under the Travel and Security section. A number of people posted their hassles last July and August with these scanners, as well as recently.
A passenger in Pittsburgh in August tried to tell his fellow passengers they had the option of opting out of the “nude-o-scopes” as the frequent flyers call them. He was told repeatedly to shut up by the TSA goons. A “two-striper” came over, shouted in his face, “Do You Want to Fly Today?”, threatened to call over a police officer, and demanded to know what the passenger was “hiding.” Eventually, the passenger was allowed to board, after having everything in his wallet examined.
In Richmond just recently, a passenger was told there was no “opt-out.” You are REQUIRED to go through the scanner. The passenger was late for his flight, so he complied. There were no signs saying the machines were optional.
Another passenger in Las Vegas said he was given a very rough and aggressive pat down by a TSA groper last summer when the passenger refused the x-ray. This passenger said the screener patted down his legs so hard that his pants came down a little. The same screener roughly patted down his chest and back, and also squeezed his penis and testicles.
Back in 2004, two Chechneyan (not sure of the spelling) women hijacked two Russian airliners on domestic flights and blew them up. The bombers were upset that the Russian army killed their husbands. In response, women st U.S. airports were having their breasts patted, squeezed and groped by TSA “screeners,” including, in some cases, screeners who were men. After thousands of women complained and after a national uproar, the policy was dropped.
So is....wait for it.............George Soros!!! He owns 11,000 shares of the scanner company's stock! That's walking around money for him though.
Yes, you wouldn’t generally expect New Jersey to be in the forefront of individual rights. I agree with your conclusion.
If I were a state’s attorney general, I would glom on to suits like this ASAP. I think states miss out on wielding as much power as they can, by overlooking stuff like this.
The TSA needs some push-back, and I think this is a great way to do that.
I have a better suggestion — only muslims should be scanned and groped. After all, it is because, and only because of them that we have all this turmoil at airport security.
The money quote:
“A pilot from Skywest was going through security in Denver with his 18-year-old daughter and overheard a TSA officer saying into his headset, ‘heads up, got a cutie for you.’
This is going to go viral. The protest and anger is going to grow exponentially. The quote above needs to be spread throughout the US to all potential passengers.
I suspect more and more stories like this are gonna come out.
>>If (heaven forbid) there’s a bad terrorist event, Obama may very well try to hang the whole thing around the Republican’s necks because they objected to these sexual assault body searches.<<
He can try. What would really happen is that the groundswell in favor of profiling would be unstoppable. That may be exactly what they fear.
I live in St. Louis. The City of St. Louis owns Lambert International Airport. The City and/or County of St. Louis should be responsible for the security of the airport. The county is responsible for the security of courthouses, and other county property. Same goes with the city. How or why is the Federal government even involved?
I know the answer to that. More unconstitutional knee-jerk legislation that was signed into law nearly a decade ago. DHS, and the TSA should have never came to fruition.
He owns 11,000 shares of the scanner company’s stock!”
OWNED. Sold it. There is another post on FR re speculation as to what this might mean.
Soros sold it already? Wonder why.
Sanjey (spelling?) Gupta is also a large owner. Maurice Strong, algore & Mikhail Gorbachev are just a few financial beneficiaries of Sexual Assault Scanners.
What's a Muslim look like? It's a religion, not a physical description, and there have been Muslim terrorists that don't look like Arabs or Persians.
SeeBS is reporting its being “loved” by the vast majority of the american populace. I call BS.
It's not a religion - that's the problem. It's a totalitarian political organization hiding behind 1st Amendment religious protections.
Until a clear definition of religion is asserted as MANDATING complete voluntary participation without retaliation ro punishment for non-participation under ANY circumstances, Islam will continue to infiltrate, undermine and sabotage America, with the clear goal of someday taking it over completely and killing those who refuse them.
Islam is a murderous invader in America, and in the entire world. This isn't my interpretation - it's what they've been screaming from the rooftops all over the world, and writing in the blood of their endless victims.
America either has to identify Islam as the non-religious political enemy it is, or it will die. Islam itself refuses any other solution.
God forid it should take a terrorist nuke to wake up Americans to this stark, utterly unavoidable truth.
Hey, scanners on the House floor is a great idea! Senate too. But we need to have them walking out, not in, so we can catch them stealing our dollars.
And we need one at the National Archives in case Sandy Burger returns.
Hey, if you can destroy the lives of Catholic priests and force them to pay millions of dollars for this sort of thing, why should the federal government go scott free?
yes, i have to say the thought occurred to me, that Zero knows something could happen, we will have a man-made disaster, and then too many people will cave in and we will become human cattle. so either way he will get what he wants.
so much bad news today. i thought conservatives won 2 weeks ago
Shakes on a Plane
My question was this: are the security checks really any more effective? To find out, I decided to re-enact the classic scene from the 1984 movie This is Spinal Tap, where bassist Derek Smalls puts a foil-lined cucumber down his pants, which is picked up by the security wand. Only I decided to go one better, by putting a buzzing vibrator down my pants.
You know I was sweating cheeseburgers as I waited for the guy to return. We stood there awkwardly, while my crotch hummed a one-note tune. It was a muffled drone, like someone using a weed wacker in a neighboring township.
Salad Dressing In The Pants
Calmly, I reached down into that unstable barrel of atomic liquid and grabbed my salad dressing. Then I calmly boarded the moving walkway, and stuffed the salad dressing down my pants. The TSA lets you keep things there, apparently.
But their so-called civil liberties groups are all silent. Scarcely a peep out of them. They are leftist sponsored frauds. If the ACLU was legit, they would be throwing lawsuits up left and right.
Who is Gupta? Article on Soros sale of stock was posted earlier on FR today. Interesting and, as usual, informative responses from others on FR after article. He doesn’t need walking around money so maybe he does know something we don’t. My thought-if they (we the taxpayers) have bought enough for all airlines, maybe there is no more market. But then I read somewhere-wish I could remember where-that they might be appropriate for entrances to schools, shopping centers, etc. Who knows. I guess it’s another one of those hide and watch issues.
Radiation is cumulative and can especially harm those with compromised immune systems, as well as frequent fliers.
Beck said this afternoon that Soros sold his shares two days ago.
I meant Deepak Chopra. Sorry.
Wasn’t he the guy who contributed to Hillary?
Chopra, individually and through his PAC, has been a significant donor to the Democratic party, including contributions to the campaigns of Obama and Hillary Rodham Clinton.
