Emanuel to face Challenge on Residency Issue
Chicago Sun Times ^ | November 18, 2010 | Abdon Pallasch

Posted on 11/18/2010 8:32:55 AM PST by PBRCat

Next week, a veteran election lawyer plans to file a legal attempt to knock mayoral candidate Rahm Emanuel off the ballot for allegedly failing to meet the residency requirement to run for mayor.

The issue is whether, by leasing out his house when he moved his family to Washington, D.C., to be President Obama's chief of staff, Emanuel ran afoul of the Illinois Municipal Code, which requires mayoral candidates to be residents of the towns they run in for a year before Election Day. The only exception is for active-duty members of the military.

Interesting point.

The judge will take that under consideration and deliberate on his future career.

I hope they can get this done. Rahmbo is a thug. Chicago deserves better. Sadly looking at the list of who is running there is nobody of an stature.

Also its important to note that the retrial of Blago has been postponed until April 21, 2011 after the Election.
Blago has indicated that he has subpoened Rahmbo to testify. Originally the trial it was for January 2011. Now do you think that the Rat party machine had something to do with the trial being moved till after the election. below are some election key points and dates.

Mayor Type General Election
Description The first day to circulate nominating petitions for mayor is Sept. 14. The last day to deliver at least 12,500 valid signatures is Dec. 13.
If no candidate gets over 50% there will be a run off held on April 5th.
Term starts May 16, 2011.

Well thanks for the information. As you know the black vote is huge and we have three black candidates as of now. If Meeks is pro life that is an important thing because we know Danny Davis and Carol Mosley Fraud is pro abortion.

As far as Rahm goes even if allowed to run I find it highly likely he'll win. He won Blago's seat but honestly I never heard of him before he ran for Blago's seat.

The sad thing is the average IQ of a Chicago voter is about as low is it goes. It is all about bribing voters with cigarettes and booze.

Ofcourse the democrats delayed the trial because of this. God forbid they show one of their "stars" in bad light.

It is F'ing disgusting that Bill Brady had this election stolen from him by Blago's LT GOV!!! That is the Crook County way.

On a good note thank god that arrogant monster Melissa Bean got tossed out. Oh she made me mad. She voted lockstep with Pelosi and the "progressive" caucus. I'm glad the voters of the district woke up.

Fred White states that he wants to freeze property tax rates. He hopes that would cause more businesses to open in Chicago, causing more companies to sell products. After the revenue increases, he would want to cut or eliminate some tax rates, including the alcohol tax, restaurant tax, gas tax, and/or amusement tax.

The statute reference in your past message cites from the Election Code with respect to eligibility to vote. There is an entirely different statute concerning eligibility to run for elected office contained in the Municipal Code.

A person could be theoretically eligible to vote (based upon a thirty day residency requirement) while being ineligible to run for office for not maintaining a residence for a full year.

These are meaningful legal distinctions with a difference.

I would support that guy in a heart beat. Not only do you have to pay 8 dollars for a beer but you have to pay like 10 bucks for a hamburger at the Bears game and the food at Soldier Field is the worst in the nation and I've been to over 20 - 30 sports stadiums from Yankee Stadium to Safeco Field in Seattle.

If you are planning on going to a Bears game make sure you eat before hand.

A take-off on an old Abbott & Costello bit:

Judge: Mr. Emmanuel, are you a legal resident of St’ Louis?

RE: No, your honor.

Judge: Are you a legal resident of Kansas City?

RE: No, your honor.

Judge: Are you a legal resident of Boston?

RE: No, your honor.

Judge: Well, if you’re not a legal resident of St. Louis, Kansas City, or Boston, you must be a legal resident of someplace else. If you’re a legal resident of someplace else, you’re not a legal resident here in Chicago. Court rules for the Plaintiff. BANG.

The high prices for food and drinks, at sporting events, aren’t mainly because of taxes. The main reason is because the vendors are greedy, although taxes increase the prices, slightly.

It will come down to where he filed his taxes from address and where he has a driver’s licence, and where he voted. They will look at consistancy and you can bet its is squared away before an challenge to his ability to run.

I hate RATS, but this one will be allowed to run. But we need Blago on the April 21, 2011 trial to take the New Mayor of Chicago and shred him up along with Axelrod, and the Iman Obummer.

Now that would be Bashert (meant to be)

Nevermind. Income tax rates are lower in Illinois than they are in DC. Of course he filed taxes in Illinois.

I heard the attorney on WLS last week - this is the whole Crux of the argument. He expects to lose the first two hearings, but win at the State Supreme Court level.

There is case law with a WWII vet(?) that was not allowed to run for office after the war, until he had established residency again. He could vote but not run for office because of the 1871 residency law.

Anyone who stabs a knife into a table screaming “he's dead! he's dead” when speaking of other politicians or confronts other politicians naked in the shower should be disqualified for public office.

This little runt is a nut-job bully with a Napoleon complex. I can't think of anyone who would be dumb enough to vote for him.

I also blame the unions. I used to sell baseball cards at Sox Fest when it was at the Hyatt. I had to pay a union fee and I wasn't allowed to unload stuff from my vehicle. The union workers had to it was actual law if you can believe it. Mind you I had a cart to carry everything myself but nope, the unions had to get their cut of the pie. The unions also gave Quinn the win.

All you need to know about REV Meeks.

Chicago Mayoral Candidate: Reverened James Meeks

Heaven knows, we need a man of integrity to take the helm in most cities and states these days. We need men and women who understand principles, and as far as I am concerned God’s principles are the desired principles to turn this nation around to get us on the right track. With all of the heads popping up running for the Mayor of Chicago, one would think people could find a man of integrity in a Pastor who has a mega church on the south side of Chicago. A Baptist church at that.

Some folks would identify Pastor James Meeks as the most Conservative candidate of the bunch. But come and take your finger and scratch the surface and let’s see who Reverend James Meeks really is. Is Reverend Meeks Pastor or Politician? It’s really not rocket science.

Pastor James Meeks has been on my radar screen for many years. Maybe it started when I read an astounding article years ago in which Pastor Meeks “absolved” Reverend Jesse Jackson when he was “exposed” with a Mistress and love child. Yes Reverend James Meeks likened Jesse Jackson to King David and Bathsheba in the Old Testament, striving to gloss over the incident playing politics instead of being the Pastor he says he is and caring for Jackson’s soul, instead of becoming his Damage Control PR agent.

My next experience was an actual conversation with Pastor James Meeks on the Sandy Rios show. As all of the politically uniformed Christians called up and gave their full fledged support for Pastor Meeks as he was running for Illinois State Senate, I called in to ask him about a couple of votes he had cast that did not mix with God’s Principles. Pastor Meeks replied he was asleep at the wheel when the Fake Mexican ID the “Matricula Consular” was voted on. Meeks voted to force Banks and Businesses in Illinois to accept this false Foreign ID that is administered by one of the most corrupt governments around. Now Billions of dollars of “DRUG MONEY” are laundered back to Mexico using the Matricula Consular. Thanks Reverend Meeks.

Pastor James Meeks continues in his unwavering loyalty to illegal aliens even now. Even as Black youth are a experiencing 42 % unemployment rate. Pastor Meeks is siding with people who have broken our laws and are sneaking into our country and stealing American Jobs. Pastor Meeks voting record on matters of illegal immigration is dismal. Now 25 million Americans are out of work and are in competition with million of illegal aliens, some of which, because of his votes in Springfield, Pastor Meeks has invited to Illinois. I guess he does not see the wisdom of law and order.

Like most politicians these days Meeks would rather be politically correct and invent his own measure of what is acceptable, We the People be damned !

Considering Pastor Meeks calls himself a man of the Good Book, you think he would remember that God told the Israelites to secure their border. God gave them criteria for foreigners who wanted to live among them. Foreigners had to obey all of the laws in Israel and adhere to all of the customs and acknowledge all of Israel’s Holy days. Pastor Meeks has already made his intentions clear in this Mayoral race, he will continue to ignore Federal Law. Reverened Meeks will continue the masquarde of making HIS OWN law. Ignoring Federal law and continuing the policy of Sanctuary Cities which endangers our Law Enforcemnet officers. Sanctuary City policies tie the hands of Police officers behind their backs on the streets of Chicago. Tying the hands of Police Officers when killings in Chicago are at an all time high. Tying the hands of Police Officers when we are 2000 officers short on the streets of Chicago. In a time when terrorism is at an all time high, and Chicago is a major terrorist target, Pastor Meeks wants to play Politician, and NOT principled leader that the word REVERENED would call him to be.

The irony continues, it does not stop here. Pastor James Meeks has also sided with the Embryonic stem cell crowd. Pastor or Politician? Again all you have to do is scratch the surface and one would realize that better results have already been realized with Adult Stem Cell science. Great strides and recovery have been made with Adult Stem cell research. But the “leader in the community” is on the wrong side of the principled issue again! Reverend James Meeks forgot his Good Book and again sides with his Political side instead of his Pastor side.

Reverend James Meeks is now joining forces with Andy Mc Kenna of the Republican Party. The same Andy Mc Kenna who left the Illinois Republican Party in shambles. The same Andy Mc Kenna who misused funds of the Illinois Republican Party for his own Political gain. The same Andy McKenna who’s father is on the board of Mc Donalds and needs cheap illegal labor. Why would such a relationship be forged? One would guess for the sake of the Almighty dollar, not Almighty God.

Heaven help us in the seemingly God forsakened land called Chicago, Illinois.
