CBS: Lisa Murkowski 'Not Beholden' to GOP 'Who Turned Their Backs on Her'
Mediaresearchcenter ^ | 11-18-10 | Kyle Drennen

Posted on 11/18/2010 10:01:25 AM PST by Mozilla

On Thursday's CBS Early Show, correspondent Nancy Cordes reported on Alaska Senator Lisa Murkowski declaring victory in her write-in bid for reelection and portrayed her as a victim of the GOP: "[She's] in a very unique position, not beholden to the Republican leaders who turned their backs on her when she decided to run and not beholden to the tea party, which did everything it could to defeat her."

In reality, it was Murkowski who turned her back on the Republican Party after losing the primary and continuing to run against GOP nominee Joe Miller. Cordes sympathetically declared: "This was a huge uphill battle for Lisa Murkowski, who was urged by Republican leaders not to wage this campaign after she lost her primary bid....It was a risky bid and the risk paid off."

They should consider her not part of the party because she won over the actual Republican. She should lose all her seniority and be given the very worst committee assignments now and after 2012. This woman needs to be punished. It’s not like they could ever depend on her for support, so what’s the loss in giving her the utter silent treatment. Let her caucus with the Dems if she wants. That might be all Alaska needs to finally turn the page on her next time around.

I wonder if CBS felt similarly indignant when Joe Lieberman was rejected in a Democratic primary and had to run as an independent, and whether they felt the Democratic party had turned their backs on Lieberman. The fact is, Miller won the primary for the GOP. If Murkowski didn’t like that, too bad. But the GOP had every obligation and right to help Miller win this seat against all comers, including Murkowski. The disloyalty was her’s, not the GOP’s.

She is such a biich.

Already the stupid media is gloating that this will hurt Palin. The fact is, Palin’s endorsement defeated Murky in the primary. No one expected that Murky would pull this crap against the wishes of her own party and her own promise of not running 3rd party or as a write-in. The bottom line is this woman is a breathing pile of filthy garbage who shouldn’t have been elected dog catcher and the stupid RINOs like Cornyn who passively sat by and did nothing to help Miller.

McConnell & Friends played a significant role in her victory. If they’d had the stones to remove all committee assignments from her after she decided to go Write-in, they would have taken a large campaign card away from her. She wouldn’t have been able to campaign on the fact that she would be able to do more for Alaska than Miller would because of her senior committee positions.

The wusses wussed out, and didn’t sack up.

McConnell needs to shut her up.

He has welcomed her with open arms.

What a farce of a story

The GOP helped her steal the election, even sent some of their shyster lawyers to Alaska to help her.

From the article:

not beholden to the Republican leaders who turned their backs on her when she decided to run

No they supported her when she ran in the primaries, and she lost.

Promised she would support Miller if he won. Which was a lie

Another election stolen by the leftists.

I don't believe that they can do that. She didn't do anything illegal. She saw an opportunity and pounced on it. It is disgusting but she saw it as the only chance she had. I can't believe that Miller could not win this easy election. I mean how embarrassing to be Miller and lose to a write in....the first in over 50 years. Miller did not try hard enough. Also I believe Miller screwed up when he made that stupid remark about not supporting Sarah for President....everyone here gave him a pass but I bet the real conservatives in Alaska were given pause.

I’m not saying she didn’t win, just that she didn’t win as a Republican. She might or might not caucus with the Pubbies, but the official Republican was Miller.

Well, I agree, she was elected by the Bolshies that did not vote for Commiecrat.

Kick her out. It would be better for her state if she had prepared to run against the other Bolshecrat Senator.

What about all the money in her coffers which she used to fight against Miller? She should pay that back then as it was given to her “as a Republican” before she lost the nominee race. Then she turns on Republicans and uses that money to run her write-in vote.

Use her for 2 years and then dump her on her backside when we dont need her in 2012 when we take back the sneate, let her see how that feels.

Funny thing is, Alaskans probably put her back in because of the earmarks and now when they go in a ban, she’ll be next to useless to alaskans.

She needs to caucus with the Republicans. She needs to vote with the party on the key issues. If she does those things, and has a record as a Republican, she might get committee chairmanships in 2013. If she keeps this crap up, she should be kicked out immediately. The choice is hers.

Under no circumstances should she have any important position within the caucus. Commerce Committee or something like that. If she behaves badly, she will either go Democrat or create a record that is even more liberal. Either way, she won't get elected next time.

Unfortunately, the Senate GOP leadership won't see it that way. They will sympathize with her, because they are RINOs like her, not conservative. So they will welcome her with open arms, even as she spits in the people's face. They are guys we also need to get rid of.

A perfect example of why we eliminated nobility in this country. Seeing all these family oligarchies in various states is troubling. Bush, Biden, Kennedy, Murkowski, Rockefeller, Romney, Carnahan, whoever, these multi-generational fiefdoms should be avoided, and electing the widder is not right either, whether it is Bono or Carnahan.

The GOP, in general, is just ‘government as usual’ acting outside “We, the people’s” interests. We must threaten them with ending THEIR party by making the Tea Party a real viable political force and talk Sarah Palin into running on the Tea Party ticket. There’s no other way now.
