President Obama dropped a bipartisan bombshell today, announcing he will award the Presidential Medal of Freedom next year to ex-President George H.W. Bush.

The magnanimous gesture of bestowing the nation’s highest civilian honor to the 41st U.S. President came a day after ex-President George W. Bush gave a respectful nod to Obama at the groundbreaking of his library in Dallas.

“The decisions of governing are on another President’s desk, and he deserves to make them without criticism from me,” Bush said at the site of his future library at Southern Methodist University.

NBA Hall of Famer Bill Russell, St. Louis (baseball) Hall of Famer Stan Musial, cellist Yo-Yo Ma, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Wall Street wizard Warren Buffett top the list of scholars, athletes, artists, achievers and do-gooders who will be presented the award at a White House ceremony early next year.

I would hope that #41 would have the common decency not to accept. I am not holding my breath, though.

I’m with you, brother. Bush should tell him to stuff it.

Presidential Medal of Freedom is the US equivalent of the Nobel Prize for Peace.

George H.W. Bush is a combat veteran of World War II, was the head of the CIA, was the first U.S. Ambassador to Communist China, was Vice-President, and one of 44 Presidents of the United States.

That he recieves the Presidential Medal of Freedom is something I am glad for.

Could he ask ‘Zero’ to just mail it to him?

I would just say I have a scheduling conflict that day.

No matter the day.

Anything he does is political...Is he sucking you in like he's a good guy!!

It's almost kind of a dig. Like me giving Michelle my custom made size 6 clothes.

As has been apparent the past two years, the Bushes have too much class to throw this back in zer0’s face. It’s obvious zer0 realizes that he’s gone too far in blaming 43 so he’s doing this to honor 41 hoping, we the people, we forget what a classless ass he’s been/is. Not gonna happen! I for one am glad 41 is getting this - he deserves it!

.
And with all the virtues you mentioned, he still favored the idea of a One World Government?

Do these people even know what they are saying when they place their hand on the Bible and swear allegiance to the Constitution or is it just part of the smoke and mirrors routine?

Sigh.

“The decisions of governing are on another President’s desk, and he deserves to make them without criticism from me,”

I wish someone would remind Jimmy Carter and Bubba of that.

“It wouldn’t mean much coming from you. Besides, I think this decision is more about you anyway.”

With the implied suffix of "And not that rotten kid of yours, who ran the car into the ditch and left us all this mess".

Obama is such a transparent pr*ck.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.
I'm lazy.

I am proud to say, I served on the same ship that
President Bush served on in WW11....he was a young
pilot and flew many missions off of USS San Jacinto-CVL30.

Obamao isn’t worthy to shine Bush’s gardener’s shoes, much less give an award.
