Mad Hatter: Miami Congresswoman Angry Over House Hat Ban (Florida Democrat Alert)
NBC Miami ^ | 11/18/10 | Todd Wright

Posted on 11/19/2010 6:37:25 AM PST by Recovering_Democrat

For Frederica Wilson, style is substance when it comes to her hat collection.

The former state legislator who was elected to replace Kendrick Meek in District 17 is as mad as a hatter that head dress is prohibited on the floor in the House of Representatives on Capitol Hill.

Wilson, a Democrat from Miami, is known for having a hat for every outfit and every occasion. She's probably more known for her trademark style than any piece of legislation she pushed or voted for, so it's easy to understand why she would feel her identity is being stripped away.

"Hats are what I wear. People get excited when they see the hats. Once you get accustomed to it, it's just me," Wilson told the Miami Herald. "Some people wear wigs, or high heel shoes or big earrings or pins. This is just me."

This extremist leftwingnut Democrat just might make Sheila Jackson Lee look like a Rhodes scholar.

Soon to be representing Florida's 17th district.

Yeesh. I get the impression that the hat this dope should be wearing is a tinfoil dunce cap.

Even among ladies and gentlemen who wear hats, they’re not worn indoors as a matter of etiquette.

What? Does she have a bald spot or something?

SYMBOLISM OVER SUBSTANCE - That's the democrat way.

Someone tell Hedda Hopper that this is a government body, not a Saturday night at Daddy Mack's juke joint.

But, she asked for it, I am downloading all the pictures of her, along with all the pictures of ridiculous hats that I can find. I'll have fun with this kook.

THANK YOU, Oberon! This classless hack thinks it's more important to "look good" than to adhere to long-established acceptable social etiquette norms.

As a matter of fact, hats were originally used to keep soot and ash out of the faces of gentlemen and ladies during the Industrial Revolution. They were purposeful accoutrements that lent to style.

While we don't live in a world covered in soot anymore, hats are still en vogue in some circles, but the old standards of etiquette still apply!

I wonder if anyone will ever be brave enough to bring up the deficiency black people display in making rational voting decisions. Look at the CBC. If you went out and searched for a collection of kooks specifically with the intent of making black people in general look bad you couldn’t be more successful.

Actually, if a woman is wearing a hat, she is not required to remove it indoors..same as in church. And in the Marine Corps, we women Marines were not required to remove their cover indoors ( if we worked in the space we did for comfort sake) but it was not a requirement.
That said, however, if the congress dress code dictates that all head wear is not to be worn in the Congress working areas then so be it. I for one would not want to wear a hat all day...
She just wants to draw attention to herself.
As to that dummy from Houston,,her hairdo always make me think that braid is her version a diadem.

Headwear has devolved into baseball caps for the most part. When I started reading this story, I thought he would be wearing a traditional African headdress.

Instead, she is wearing a what looks like very nice subdued, flat brimmed Stetson. It looks good on her and it looks classy.

This classless hack thinks it's more important to "look good" than to adhere to long-established acceptable social etiquette norms.

Traditional etiquette dictates that gentlemen must remove hats indoors; ladies keep their hat on.

But this is now so old fashioned as to been largely forgotten as well as other rules of etiquette such as men holding doors for ladies, giving up seats in trains and allowing ladies to exit elevators first, etc as a result of the gender equality fanaticism of the past 30 years. http://www.emilypost.com/common-courtesies/479-hats-off-the-who-what-when-where-of-the-hat

Seriously, it’s not a bad hat. But it IS very western in appearance. If I saw a woman strolling down the streets of Sedona wearing it, I’d think nothing of it. Not sure that I’d call it “subdued” either.
