MSNBC said Friday that it is suspending Morning Joe co-host Joe Scarborough for two days after he acknowledged giving eight previously unknown $500 contributions to friends and family members running for state and local offices during his tenure at the network, a violation of parent NBCs ban on political contributions by employees without specific permission from the network president.
I recognize that I have a responsibility to honor the guidelines and conditions of my employment, and I regret that I failed to do so in this matter, Scarborough said in a statement. I apologize to MSNBC and to anyone who has been negatively affected by my actions, said, adding that after he was made aware of some of the contributions, he called MSNBC president Phil Griffin and agreed with Phil's immediate demand of a two-day suspension without pay.
POLITICO had sought comment from the network after finding evidence that Scarborough gave at least five separate previously unknown $500 contributions while serving as an MNBC host all to Republican candidates to whom he was close who were running for state legislative seats in or near Scarboroughs hometown of Pensacola, Fla. After being contacted by POLITICO about the donations, Scarborough voluntarily disclosed three other $500 contributions to a friend running for county office in Florida.
Scarboroughs suspension, during which he will not be paid, will end Wednesday, Griffin said in a statement, adding As Joe recognizes, it is critical that we enforce our standards and policies.

Wonder if he’ll be reinstated a la Olberman.
Scarboroughs suspension, during which he will not be paid, will end Wednesday,
Meh...he’s probably scheduled the day before Tanksgiving as vacation.
It’s the same tactic the Democrats’ own atheist/communist ACLU uses. Every decade or so they defend the Illinois Nazis to “prove” they are “unbiased”.
That’s why the Olbermann firing because of donation could never stick - everyone would have been wiped off the network....
No one said he was the 'cream of the crop' and there are plenty of RINOs to choose to slur and slander.
I was just wondering why Romney was the "pick of the litter' to slur and slander.
I'm just thinking he must be 'really' special be at the 'top of the heap'.
The blurb just made me think of how Charles Johnson went completely bonkers about Bush and Republicans.
Just expressing my thoughts and concerns about FR and the usual 'give and take'. No give and take about Romney for sure. Jeez!
Dear God, don’t tell me Mika is going to run the show.
Mike Luckovich? Really? Now there’s a great ‘fair and balanced’ cartoonist. LOL
Absolutely none! Rudy, Romney, et al, can go straight to hell as far as I’m concerned. Those who don’t like it are free to take a hike. FR is a pro-life, pro-family, constitutional conservative activist site and will remain such. Abortionist/statist, homosexual agenda pushing RINOs can KMA!!
I was thinking Thursday and Friday of next week.
Nah. Who cares if Scarborough gets suspended or canned?
He can spoon with Olbermann this weekend and share television war stories.

So whats he doing,,,trying to claim he was unaware that he made the contributions?
Good point. I know I'd be more inclined to watch MsNBC if all they showed was an empty chair for an hour. I mean, I couldn't learn any less.
Smite? Nah! There’s not THAT many dollar-a-day FReepers.
If there were we would not be doing these continuous money-thons.
Every unpaid suspension helps the bottom line for MSM’s.
Well said, my friend!
Morning Joe Shlabotnik—a pre-determined has-been only Charlie Brown could love.
Hey, maybe this is going to be the new media Chic, suspended for donating money to left wing political figures.
