. . . Republican challengers currently lead in three of the five remaining undecided races, including New York's 25th district. Absentee ballots were counted there today and GOP challenger Ann Marie Buerkle maintained a lead of 411 votes by last count. Blogger Sam Foster says this almost certainly means Democrat incumbent Dan Maffei has been defeated.
Buerkle's victory would be of historic significance because, as the Los Angeles Times reports, Republicans haven't held more than 240 House seats since 1949.

I doubt that Romney will get the nomination. But there are any number of think-alikes who might get the job.
To paraphrase, it ain’t the size (of the majority) that matters. It’s what you do with it.
Good intentions are of no value. Excuses are worth even less.
- Put out, or get out
- I won’t love you in the morning, but if you perform well, I may possibly let you stay a while
What has Romney to do with this thread?
this is not a done deal yet. calling all tea partiers. she is one of our own and she still needs support.
from an email yesterday:
“Our expanding lead, along with the party make-up of the returned absentees in Onondaga County, make clear that Congressman Maffei’s only path to “victory” is to attempt to throw out hundreds of legally-cast and eligible absentee ballots.”
What are the other two?
Etheridge’s (D) defeat in NC earlier today put us at + 63. This might make it + 64.
Buerkle will be +63. This includes Farenthold and Ellmers, and most likely is the final number, unless Altschuler pulls a rabbit out of a hat.
Buerkle is a done deal. The challenges are mostly from Maffei, so they will only add to Buerkle’s margin.
Nothing, and I’m getting tired of seeing him appear every time I open a thread.
This is an ass whooping no matter how the Dim’s spin it. Better news is 2500 Dim aids and staffers are about to be out of work and they are pissed. They blame zero and Pelosi. This election is the gift that just keeps giving.
Thx. I didn’t realize Ellmers was already decided. 63 is pretty impressive to say the least.
Etheridge was a jerk to request a recount. He was behind by almost 1,500. The recount changed the margin by 6 votes. Melissa Bean didn’t even request a recount and she lost by only 292 votes.
Most of the races that were listed as “undecided” were 99% certain, but the loser hadn’t conceded yet. I guess as long as the loser is considering remedies there is some tiny chance the result can be reversed.
