Barbara Bush Should Shut-Up
Riehl World View ^ | 11/20/10 | Riehl World View

Posted on 11/20/2010 12:13:04 PM PST by American Dream 246

This annoys the hell out of me, because I'm not some rabid Palinista. Crap like this from Barbara Bush leaves one no alternative but to respond to it. What, does she have another son, or a grand kid lined up for the job of President? Reagan handed your husband his, despite some misgivings, and he blew it, Barbara.

And as much as I supported her husband and her son while they were in office, they've hardly gotten us to a great place. Guess what? If not for 9/11, GW may well have been a one-term-er, just like his father. He barely escaped losing to John freaking Kerry. In fact, he barely defeated Gore in 2000. So, just how wise is this new found Bush wisdom? I don't see much in the record to support it, short of the political calculations of some consultants concerned more with winning elections, than the nation's politics.

"I sat next to her once. Thought she was beautiful," Barbara Bush said. "And she's very happy in Alaska, and I hope she'll stay there."

Bush, along with her husband, former President George H.W. Bush, spoke to CNN's Larry King in an interview set to air Monday.

President Bush discussed the Tea Party movement, and although he said "some of the ideas make a lot of sense," he said he isn't sure how the new movement will fit into the larger political landscape.

Read my lips, the same can be said for the price of bread and broken tax pledges.

And as for Mona Charen's, Why Sarah Palin Shouldn't Run item at Townhall, congrats Mona, you finally found something to write about and make yourself relevant, again. I can't recall anything you've done in the last two years that's generated any real interest outside the usual Beltway set you write for. If Sarah Palin has a secret weapon, it's how distasteful and classless are so many of the GOP establishment types lined-up against her. If they were nearly as smart as they fancy themselves to be, they'd probably just shut-up and let the chips fall where they may.

“I voted for Bushes four times and I’ll never vote for any more of them in my lifetime.”

and that, I fear, is exactly what millions of others might think.

Unless it comes down to him or O.

it seems in certain quarters of the GOP establishment, any idea of "big tent" MUST exclude the Tea Party

Yep, their fantasy big tent would include everyone except conservatives.

That’s right. Like it or not, Jebby is her favorite and Bar is the original Mama Grizzly. LOL. Remember when she called Hitlery the ‘b-word’ on national television? Did we not love her then? She simply protects her men!!

You added a /sarc but I bet it’s pretty close to the truth.

Very unfortunate. I would prefer to watch the left eat its own - not the right.

Oh, for the love of Pete. The frothing at the mouth going on around here over Barbara Bush's comment is beyond the pale. A little tacky, but really, big deal. She's old, cut her some slack. Sheesh.

Most folks are seeing a pattern emanating from the less-than-conservative establishment Republicans. Barbara's comment matches this pattern.

Makes it less about a "little tacky" remark from an "old" person.

“Bar remembers the damage 3rd party candidates can do.”

On the other hand, unless something changes, we can continue electing the CFR’s New World Order types that dominate both traditional parties.

“We have the opportunity to forge for ourselves and for furture generations, a New World Order, a world where the rule of law, not the law of the jungle, governs the conduct of nations. When we are successful, and we will be, we have a real chance at this New World Order, an Order in which a credible United Nations can use it’s peacekeeping role to fulfill the promise and vision of the U.N.’s founders.” -GHWB

This whole crew including (and especialy) Karl “Tokyo” Rove are holding out for a Jeb Bush 2012 candidacy and that is ALL they care about—so they take cheap shots at Palin because she stands between Jeb and about 10 other candidates who are all unelectable and who he can beat.

The entire Bush family and all their sycophants need to go away now—grab a shovel and pitch in on building that library. They had their day, and now their day is over.

Don’t go away mad, just go away—or WE will get mad.

Barbara Bush is what happens when Junior League Muffy gets to be 85 years old or so. The brainless twit does not seem capable of grasping that she was utterly irrelevant when her husband was POTUS, when her son was POTUS and at all other times. Whatever the drawbacks of Bush the Elder and Bush the Tounger, their respective choices in pro-abort wives do not lend much to their respective reputations. Bush the Elder's mother was a long time director of Planned Barrenhood and was just irate over her descendants' going pro-life.

Jeb is probably not a wise idea for 2012 but he ought not be blamed for his windtunnel mama.

"Remember when she called Hitlery the ‘b-word’ on national television?"

I thought that was Newt's mom. Or did they both say it?

I wouldn’t say she should shut up. It’s a free country. I’d just say she should understand there’s even less upside for her, particularly, in saying it than there is for the guys and girls who are working pols. And then there’s this: I’m not going to say Jeb Bush is unelectable ever. I’m going to say that there may be an presidential campaign year when the GOP primary electorate, and then the general electorate, would enthusiastically accept John Ellis Bush. I just think that year is deeply unlikely to be 2012 or 2016. And probably not 2020 either. Let’s be honest, Bar, P.’s a more likely bet than his dad. And even that may be pushing it.

The opinion of the wife of the former one term president is even less relevant than the opinion of the wife of the current one term president.

She's old, but she knew exactly what she was saying.

If nothing else, Gov. Palin and the Tea Party has exposed the Elitist/RINO element in the Republican Party. It's about time these people are called out for who and what they are.

She has a right to her opinion and Palin has a right to run, so telling her to shut up is what leftists do.

I don't agree.

Leftists or tyrants might use the threat of government force when they tell somebody to shut-up.

Anarchists might use the threat of individual violence when they tell somebody to shut-up.

The rest of us, especially when confronted with an annoying comment such as Barbara's, might simply say, "shut-up".

LOL!

George Bush the father, was hostile toward Israel. This story evidences proof - to anyone deaf and dumb- that both husband and wife share an elitist county club type anti-semitism.

Totally true.

A wise friend once told me that the Republicans wouldn't let "us" into their country clubs, but the Democrats would put us into concentration camps.

Exactly. Sarah saved the gop almost single handily and these vultures like the bushes still attack her?

Screw that. Bush is no different than clinton or obama to me at this point, just a little more presentable.
