This is the vote on Closure on S.510 (FDA Food Take-over Bill)

This is one really bad bill and a "lame duck" grab for power through the FDA. If you think the price of oil is a problem for U.S. citizens, just wait. If this bill passes the Senate both Supply and Price of food in the U.S. will sky rocket.

There is a series of jokes that end with “and then the argument started”.

This is no joke, and will end with “and then the SHOOTING started”.

There were 10 Republicans “Not Voting”. I am not sure if this was done in stealth by allowing the Pubbies to leave for recess and then calling for the vote, or if the 10 Republicans are Traitors too.

KBH (R TX) is on that list.

” So. are the Republicans going to give us thsi gold plated food straitjacket? “

This bill was introduced by that great humanitarian (/sarc - for those who haven’t had their coffee yet) Dick Durbin, and had twelve co-sponsors...

SEVEN of those twelve were Republicans....

(I’m looking for the list - can’t remember where I saw it...)

Hmmmm....

So, by a quick scan, two of the bill’s Republican Sponsors (Alexander and Gregg) ran-for-cover and didn’t vote...

They can run, but there’s nowhere to hide..... ;)

Yep, they can run, but will only die tired. /joking

Seriously, some of the Senate think the 6 year term and the wait insulates them from vote consequences. (short voter memory)

We have that in TX with both KBH and Cornyn. KBH is up for election in 2012, Cornyn not until 2014. Both Toast.
