The Illusion of Safety and the Illustration of Political Correctness
Human Events ^ | November 21, 2010 | Brad Mahlstedt

The implementation of the new TSA passenger screening policy is indicative of just how politically correct and moronic our society is becoming.

When Americans fly, we can now choose between being photographed in the nude and being fondled. Yet since 9/11, America has been attacked in the air only by radical Muslim males. Therefore, Homeland Security has concluded that we should search 80-year-old grandma’s bra lines.

What kind of country are we becoming when our citizens are forced to endure such invasive searches without due process in an effort to appease the very group of people who are seeking to destroy our country?

Instead of calling out the real threat, Islamic radicalism, American policy is turning to the politically correct and untrue assumption that everyone is a suspected terrorist. Of course, it is not unusual to find enactments of political correctness accompanied by untruths.

It is slowly becoming evident that this administration is more concerned with presenting an illusion of equality and fairness than it is with the safety of the American public. Unfortunately, the logic in this policy is lacking. Americans know that Muslim men attacked us on 9/11, the underwear bomber was a radical Muslim man, the army base shooter was a radical Muslim, and there have been numerous attempts by radical Muslim men since 9/11 to harm Americans.

So while terrorists visit the State Department, America gives access to our court system to suspected terrorists, CAIR gains influence with Democratic law makers, and mosques are built next to the 9/11 World Trade Center, Americans once again fall victim to the terrorists at the hands of our own government. Even worse is that our government is refusing to call a spade a spade.

But the southern border is wide open and political correctness demands it remain that way.

Protect the guilty and punish the innocent. It's the Democrat way.

The TSA kabuki theater security will all too soon be shown wanting. The terrorists will strike us in ways the TSA never thought about with tragic results.

As people use up their tickets purchased before this assault on American travelers, it will be interesting to see how far the demand for future tickets will plummet.
A few need to travel, but for most it is a disposable luxury.

I’ve only flown 3 times in my 48 years, last time in 2008 to Germany. I see no need to fly again as long as we are treated as the enemy by those in The White Hut.

with their green agenda, maybe the airlines are their next target. Indirectly force the public to avoid flying.

I once managed a group where we had free and open access to a camcorder for work purposes. I became aware one guy was taking it home and using it to make videos of his kids, so I decided the “fair” thing to do would be to put it under lock and key.

A few days into this new policy some folks came in my office and asked why they were being punished (i.e. not able to do their jobs as efficiently) because of the misdeeds of one person. They were right. I had a one-on-one with the guilty party and reverted back to the open policy.

As the boss it was more comfortable for me not to deal with the real issue, but that’s what I was getting paid to do.

You, sir, are absolutely correct.

I’m a teacher in a high school classroom, and that’s the issue I deal with every day - namely, how do you handle the mischief and misdeeds of students?

You’re spot on about one truth concerning punishment - when the group is punished for the misdeeds of a few, the entire group tends to gather together and make the teacher the enemy. Quickly separating and then severely punishing the troublemaker has the opposite effect - it provides a prize, as it were, for those following the rules, and provides a warning for those thinking about similar actions.

The TSA is essentially punishing the population for the misdeeds of Islamofascists. At some point, there will be chaos in the population of decent people who are being targeted. There’s a part of me which thinks that is the goal of the left - create chaos, tear down faith in the structure, and when folks give up, then fill the void with leftist rule. Or they could be a bunch of screwups.

It’s also not a surprise that a workplace filled with adults is analogous to a classroom of teenagers. LOL

As usual the assumptions you are operating under is what determines your conclusion.

Liberals say guns kill people, conservatives say people kill people. Therefore liberals try to control the guns, conservatives try to control the killers.

Likewise, liberals think that bombs kill people so they are searching everybody for bombs.

Conservatives are saying Islamic terrorists kill people. If you profile the terrorist you will find their latest weapon. It's foolish to look for the weapon they used last time.

Just read your reply - very much on the same page I think.

And a FReeper in a high school classroom?? Wow, thanks for fighting the good fight! Nice to know there are at least some of “us” out on the front lines.

As with so many things these days, we will have to fight what we can, and vote the enemies of freedom out, one election at at time.Of course should they push too far, change through peaceful elections will become a thing of the past. I wonder where that line is, because it’s been pretty bad already.

Thanks, buddy. Just to add to that compliment...

The leftist takeover of our cultural institutions is purposeful. Look up “Frankfurt School” and “Gramscii” on Google. Like Lenin and Mao, the left always tells exactly what they’ll do. The core of leftist thought in the West is that Christianity and the concept of God-given, individual rights have prevented socialism from succeeding. Their solution was to infiltrate (their words, not conspiratorial voodoo) instruments of cultural change - arts, academia, the media. Eventually, the culture would be changed so socialism would succeed. Gramscii called it “the long march through the institutions.”

Well, my friend, I’m making the long march through THEIR institutions. For instance: the bright kid from a leftist family got a copy of the Federalist Papers - so he can argue more skillfully. Hard to bring me before the Board of Education for that. Of course, the kid will ignore it, but the book is on his shelf, and maybe 10 years from now he’ll open it up and start reading. I am fearless defending American culture and its values - and if I get any crap, I like to point out that they should more tolerant of diverse views. LOL

My students score well on those standardized tests, too. Admin likes me. And since I make it clear from the get-go that my job is to work for the families and parents of students, I have their support, too. I tell kids that world outside my door respects hard work and honesty, and it’s what I expect inside my room. Yeah, it’s old school.

Someday we’ll actually have school choice, but probably not within my lifetime. In the meantime, I’m using the left’s strategies against them. (So is Sarah Palin.) Think of me as Johnny Appleseed. And let a thousand flowers bloom. ROTF

This is now heaven for perverts on both sides: Dear TSA: Feel me up...I enjoy the feel of your filthy fingers. Just what has this country come to? Just how much of this PC crap will people endure? The Constitution is being shredded before us.

Exactly! It’s like the libs complaining that GWB wasn’t inspecting EVERY container arriving by cargo ship. We DON’T KNOW how the terrorists will strike us. While the TSA is molesting boys, the terrorists are laughing at our stupidity and waste of time. Keeping an eye on radical Islamists and infiltrating their groups would be $ and time much better spent. Like during the 60’s when radical groups who were mostly WHITE were infiltrated. Why? Because people like Bill Ayres were blowing things up!

While they’re groping little kids & grandmas, terrorists are coming across our unmonitored borders freely.
