Respectable Conservatives Still Don't Get Obama
Ameican Thinker ^ | November 22, 2010 | Jack Cashill

If United States Senator Al Franken -- it hurts to say that -- ever had a redeeming moment, it was in the role of Stuart Smalley, a character he created for "Saturday Night Live."

In the most memorable of Smalley's "Daily Affirmations," the lisping, wildly insecure psycho-babbler hosts Michael Jordan. After explaining to his audience that Jordan is "a basketball player for a professional basketball team," Smalley says to him, "You should be very proud of yourself."

"Well, thank you, Stuart," says Jordan, "I am."

Stunned by Jordan's self-assurance, Smalley blunders on:

"I can imagine that the night before a game, you must lie awake thinking, 'I'm not good enough. Everybody's better than me. I'm not going to score any points. I have no business playing this game'."

"Well," answers Jordan in perfect deadpan, "not really."

Not even Stuart Smalley would accuse Jordan of narcissism. In real life, as in the Smalley skit, Jordan simply exhibited the confidence that comes with being the world's best practitioner of his art.

Cashill understands the Illegal in a way no so-called "respectable conservatives" (aka: over-educated snobbish nitwits) do.

I mean, does anyone take Kathleen Parker seriously anymore? After her orgasmic-like words for The Great Spreader, how can anyone read her nonsense.

To preserve their respectability, respectable conservatives have chosen to ignore what the blogosphere reports. As a result, when they look at Obama, they still see Michael Jordan and wonder why he is off his game. Out in the blogosphere, we see Stuart Smalley and wonder when the breakdown comes.

A very accurate final paragraph to the article.

.....”The one project that did engage Obama fully was work on The Audacity of Hope. He procrastinated for a long time and then, facing his deadline, wrote nearly a chapter a week.”

These chapters average nearly fifty pages in length. They are well-written and well-researched. A professional writer, working full time, would be stressed beyond endurance to meet such a deadline. A moonlighting senator, writing longhand, would not have a prayer.....

Of course obama did not write “The Audacity of Hope”. He never wrote “Dreams from My Father”, either. He never wrote ANYTHING of substance. That is because he COULD NOT write anything of substance!!!!

http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/who_wrote_dreams_from_my_fathe_1.html

obama is actually a dumb-dumb with perfectly creased pants. He is a fraud, planted as our President beginning a long time ago. He does the will of his masters—the Saudis and banksters like Soros—NOT the will of the American people

obama—following the will of his masters—is turning America into a Third World country influenced by sharia. And he is doing everything possible to advance the caliphate. STOP HIM!!!!

"D'Souza and Last deserve more respect, but their willful blindness to Obama's limitations limits their own credibility."

I would like to know how D'Souza has had willful blindness? Where has he ever heaped praise upon Obama? He wrote a book based on his own experiences as someone who grew up in a post English colonial country and showed how Obama's thoughts come from his Father in this setting and Obama is a post colonial marxist. How is this willful blindness?

Obama is a grifter and con man. He learned how to be a street hustler during his community organizer days. The 2012 Presidential race will be the dirtiest and most divisive in our history. Look for Obama to pull the race card overtly and incessantly. It is his only chance to win.

D'Souza is just some arm chair psychologist who has created a phony strawman to explain the obvious. Obama's biological father was just that. He was a sperm donor who had no real impact on his life except to manufacture a phony narrative to further his political ambitions. Bill Ayers wrote the book.

The real influences on Obama's life were his mother, grandfather, Frank Marshall Davis, Rev Wright, and Bill Ayers. They were/are all Leftists who hated this country. And the fact that Obama spent four of his most formative years in a foreign country have contributed to his less than complete identification as an American.

Obama is an angry person who was abandoned by his mother and never knew his real father. He was raised in a dysfunctional white family and sought his own identity, which was wrapped up in race. Obama is a sociopath. How is that for some pop psychology?

Who knows, though, on whom BO “imprinted” as his “father” whom he seeks approval from?

It sounds like, through BO’s autobiographies, he has identified that figure in his life as his bio dad.

BO DOES have a psychological disorder due to his “heritage”, and he’s on a fruitless, lifelong campaign to seek “daddy’s” approval.

I agree that Bill Ayers wrote the book. However, I think that Anne Dunham drilled daddy's beliefs into young Barry Sotero. I think Daddy's beliefs did have an impact on young Barry, along with Frank Marshall Davis et al.. Even if everything you say is true, it still begs the question. How doe D'Souza get lumped in with all of these faux paus RINOS such as Kathleen Parker? You didn't hear D'Souza buying into the Obama garbage back in 2008. He never declared he was endorsing or supporting Obama. In fact, the opposite is true. Therefore he doesn't deserve to be used in this article the way Cashill has.

Yes, the 2012 election will be dirty and divisive. But it will result in the END of islam in America, and of pro-islamic American policies!!!!

I hope that all the frauds and scandals behind obama and the obamaites—and their downright EVIL—are exposed between January 2011 and the 2012 election. Then despite the obamaites’ dirty tricks and racial pandering, they will go down to an ignominious and historic defeat.

Profile of the Sociopath

Glibness and Superficial Charm

Manipulative and Conning

They never recognize the rights of others and see their self-serving behaviors as permissible. They appear to be charming, yet are covertly hostile and domineering, seeing their victim as merely an instrument to be used. They may dominate and humiliate their victims.

Grandiose Sense of Self

Feels entitled to certain things as “their right.”

Pathological Lying

Has no problem lying coolly and easily and it is almost impossible for them to be truthful on a consistent basis. Can create, and get caught up in, a complex belief about their own powers and abilities. Extremely convincing and even able to pass lie detector tests.

Lack of Remorse, Shame or Guilt

A deep seated rage, which is split off and repressed, is at their core. Does not see others around them as people, but only as targets and opportunities. Instead of friends, they have victims and accomplices who end up as victims. The end always justifies the means and they let nothing stand in their way.

Shallow Emotions

When they show what seems to be warmth, joy, love and compassion it is more feigned than experienced and serves an ulterior motive. Outraged by insignificant matters, yet remaining unmoved and cold by what would upset a normal person. Since they are not genuine, neither are their promises.

Incapacity for Love

Need for Stimulation

Living on the edge. Verbal outbursts and physical punishments are normal. Promiscuity and gambling are common.

Callousness/Lack of Empathy

Unable to empathize with the pain of their victims, having only contempt for others’ feelings of distress and readily taking advantage of them.

Poor Behavioral Controls/Impulsive Nature

Rage and abuse, alternating with small expressions of love and approval produce an addictive cycle for abuser and abused, as well as creating hopelessness in the victim. Believe they are all-powerful, all-knowing, entitled to every wish, no sense of personal boundaries, no concern for their impact on others.

Early Behavior Problems/Juvenile Delinquency

Usually has a history of behavioral and academic difficulties, yet “gets by” by conning others. Problems in making and keeping friends; aberrant behaviors such as cruelty to people or animals, stealing, etc.

Irresponsibility/Unreliability

Not concerned about wrecking others’ lives and dreams. Oblivious or indifferent to the devastation they cause. Does not accept blame themselves, but blames others, even for acts they obviously committed.

Promiscuous Sexual Behavior/Infidelity

Promiscuity, child sexual abuse, rape and sexual acting out of all sorts.

Lack of Realistic Life Plan/Parasitic Lifestyle

Tends to move around a lot or makes all encompassing promises for the future, poor work ethic but exploits others effectively.

Criminal or Entrepreneurial Versatility

Changes their image as needed to avoid prosecution. Changes life story readily.

I don't think that Anne Dunham knew her husband that well during the brief time they were together. I doubt he influenced her views that much, but rather, confirmed them. Hell, supposedly she had Barak in August 1961 and was enrolled in the University of Washington in January 1962 while her husband remained in Hawaii to study and then moved to MA to study at Harvard in the fall of 1962. She filed for divorce in January 1964. They were married in Feb 1961 with her being three months pregnant.

She married two foreign born men and chose to live much of her life outside the US. She had no problem shipping her son back to Hawaii to live with her parents.

It was at the East-West Center that Dunham met Lolo Soetoro, a student from Indonesia. They married March 15, 1965 and moved with six-year-old Barack to Jakarta, Indonesia, just after the unrest surrounding the ascent of Suharto. In Indonesia, Soetoro worked as a government relations consultant with the American petroleum company Mobil.] On August 15, 1970, Soetoro and Dunham had a daughter, Maya Kassandra Soetoro. In Indonesia, Dunham enriched her son's education with correspondence courses in English, recordings of Mahalia Jackson, and speeches by Martin Luther King Jr. She sent the young Obama back to Hawaii to attend Punahou School rather than having him stay in Asia with her. Madelyn Dunham's job as a vice-president at the Bank of Hawaii helped pay the steep tuition,[35] with some assistance from a scholarship.

In the 1970s, Dunham wished to return to work, but Soetoro wanted more children. She once said that he became more American as she became more Javanese. Dunham left Soetoro in 1972, returning to Hawaii and reuniting with her son Barack for several years. Soetoro and Dunham saw each other periodically in the 1970s when Dunham returned to Indonesia for her field work but did not live together again. They divorced in 1980 and she began using the name Ann Dunham Sutoro, with a western spelling of her former husband's surname.

Dunham was not estranged from either ex-husband and encouraged her children to feel connected to their fathers. Dunham returned to graduate school in Honolulu in 1974, while raising Barack and Maya. When Dunham returned to Indonesia for field work in 1975 with Maya, after three years in Honolulu, Barack chose not to go, preferring to finish high school in Hawaii while living with his grandparents.

Even if everything you say is true, it still begs the question. How doe D'Souza get lumped in with all of these faux paus RINOS such as Kathleen Parker? I agree. I think Cashill's point was that many of the elite MSM conservative elites still have this idea that Obama is a brilliant intellectual who has some flawed views due to various sociological reasons. Cashill says they are wrong. Obama is a poseur and con man who lacks the intellectual gifts they attribute to him. He is really an empty suit who has acquired an academic pedegree that has yet to be exposed since we have never seen any of his transcripts, SAT scores, etc.

Yes, he was the head of Harvard Law Review and yet as I understand it we don't have any articles he published for the law review. Can you head it up and not actually write any articles for it? Sounds to me like a token head to stick out there while capable students under him did all the writing and real work...

I usually like articles in The American Thinker, but I'm not sure that I like this one a lot. While I agree somewhat with the premise of the article, the author's opinion on who are "respectable conservatives" differs from mine.

Also, this description of Obama caught my eye...

Although the article had nothing to do with Obama, Obama would surely have scored off the charts had he answered those questions honestly. He has always known that he is not as competent as he has appeared -- as a writer, as a thinker, as a student, as a senator. His "luck" derived from the fact that he grew up almost exactly as privileged white people do but in the body of a black man.

I think that Obama grew up in a far more sheltered, advantaged world than any privileged white person, having had everything handed to him solely because of his race. Such is the nature of Affirmative Action - merit, effort, and capability are replaced by quotas with the preferred races given unearned advantage over others.

Obama's our AA president. Every milestone in his life has been unearned. He never had to work in his life. He never had to achieve anything. Everything, every position was handed to him in exchange for being born with a favored racial makeup.

Right. They changed the rules at Harvard in terms of who could selected at the Harvard Law Review shortly before Obama was elected/selected. It was no longer based solely on academic performance and excellence, but rather, on other considerations including race and ethnicity. Obama became the first black head of the Law Review.

First Black Elected to Head Harvard's Law Review By FOX BUTTERFIELD, Special to The New York Times Published: February 6, 1990

BOSTON, Feb. 5— The Harvard Law Review, generally considered the most prestigious in the country, elected the first black president in its 104-year history today. The job is considered the highest student position at Harvard Law School.

The new president of the Review is Barack Obama, a 28-year-old graduate of Columbia University who spent four years heading a community development program for poor blacks on Chicago's South Side before enrolling in law school. His late father, Barack Obama, was a finance minister in Kenya and his mother, Ann Dunham, is an American anthropologist now doing fieldwork in Indonesia. Mr. Obama was born in Hawaii.

''The fact that I've been elected shows a lot of progress,'' Mr. Obama said today in an interview. ''It's encouraging.

''But it's important that stories like mine aren't used to say that everything is O.K. for blacks. You have to remember that for every one of me, there are hundreds or thousands of black students with at least equal talent who don't get a chance,'' he said, alluding to poverty or growing up in a drug environment.

Change in Selection System

Mr. Obama was elected after a meeting of the review's 80 editors that convened Sunday and lasted until early this morning, a participant said.

Until the 1970's the editors were picked on the basis of grades, and the president of the Law Review was the student with the highest academic rank. Among these were Elliot L. Richardson, the former Attorney General, and Irwin Griswold, a dean of the Harvard Law School and Solicitor General under Presidents Lyndon B. Johnson and Richard M. Nixon.

That system came under attack in the 1970's and was replaced by a program in which about half the editors are chosen for their grades and the other half are chosen by fellow students after a special writing competition. The new system, disputed when it began, was meant to help insure that minority students became editors of The Law Review.

Harvard, like a number of other top law schools, no longer ranks its law students for any purpose including a guide to recruiters.

Yes Barry, the "progress" it shows is that you don't have to earn your position, you just have to be born with the right ethnic background. Apparently, Barry's whole life has been one born with the right skin color and with enough money to make it matter...
