Effort for Liberal Balance to G.O.P. Groups Begins

In what may prove a significant development for the 2012 elections, David Brock, a prominent Democratic political operative, says he has amassed $4 million in pledges over the last few weeks and is moving quickly to hire a staff to set up what he hopes will become a permanent liberal counterweight over the airwaves to the Republican-leaning outside groups that spent so heavily on this years midterm elections.
Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, a former Maryland lieutenant governor and the eldest of Robert F. Kennedys 11 children, has agreed to serve as the chairwoman of the group, which will be called American Bridge, lending to the still extremely nascent undertaking the weight of what remains one of the most significant families in Democratic politics.
Leading Democratic donors who have already pledged money to the group include Rob McKay, heir to the Taco Bell fortune and chairman of the Democracy Alliance, a partnership of wealthy liberal donors; Robert Dyson, who heads Dyson-Kissner-Moran, a takeover and acquisitions firm in New York City; and Marcia L. Carsey, a television producer who gave $1 million to Democratic outside groups in 2004.
Mr. Brock said in an interview that he planned to formally file papers with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday to set up American Bridge as what is known as an independent-expenditure-only political action committee, meaning it will be able to take in contributions of unlimited size from individuals and corporations but must regularly disclose its donors.

Why don't they just hand over their loot and solve everyone's problems?
Not to hijack this thread, but 11 kids? And one of them is an environmentalist?
What kind of carbon footprint does that hypocritical family have?
Air America II?
Knock yourselves out.
Taco Bell is owned by a liberal?..That’s it! from now on it’s Del Taco for me.
S O R O S
They already have a huge success story with the Coffee Party, don’t think they can top that one.
Such a roaring success, and so top secret that none of us have heard about it. It seems that there is a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy that is trying to take over this country - o wait - they already did.
I guess that having wealthy fascists fund their cause is the only way that the good-hearted Dems can stop the depredations of the Koch brothers.</sarc>
This is spitting in a huricane. After all the money spent by CNNNBCCBSNYTIMESWASHPOSTLATIMESCHITRIBUNEBOSGLOBe what thing is there that the collectivists have to say that we have not already heard oh say every day since our liberal mommies started playing Mao speeches to us while we were in the womb.
Yeah, they need a broadcast voice, BADLY.
Air America II? Knock yourselves outMaybe this time they can pay people to listen. Though they'll have to administer random or spot testing to verify that people actually have listened.
Or maybe they can do those "caller #10 receives..." and make it enough money to guarantee that at least some people will be listening.
They certainly won't ever listen for the content itself, that's for sure.
Air America had such a small audience that management actually considered beaming the signal to Arecibo in an attempt to attract SETI listeners.
The Bridge to Nowhere.
They might as well pile up their cash and burn it, for all the good it will do. As I recall, the Lefties outspent the good guys by a significant margin this time around.
Politically radical Wall Street types see their political contributions as an investment in CRONY CAPITALISM.
Chase, J.P Morgan, Citi, and Goldman: RAT-INFESTED CRIMINAL OPERATIONS. Chuck Schumer’s masters.
More liberal money down the money hole. Good!
they will have to pick another name....American Bridge is taken...it’s a company started here in Pittsburgh that actually makes steel bridges.
How much do UNIONS contribute to the dems? It has to be close to a billion dollars each cycle.
