Jesse Jackson isn't the only activist that can use corporate boycotts for political purposes. Starting next year, the huge Tea Party organizer FreedomWorks will urge supporters to punish huge corporations like General Electric and Johnson and Johnson for backing President Obama's progressive agenda.
In an exclusive review for Whispers of their plan, FreedomWorks president Matt Kibbe says: "Tea Party activists are willing to tackle progressive CEOs just as they tackled progressive politicians. Judging by the results of the midterm elections, progressive CEOs should buckle up, because Tea Party activists are going to give them a very bumpy ride."

Well, with all the liberal progressive agendas out there, the Tea Parties are going after big business? Not this organizer.
It’s Big Business’s business who they support. If we defeat Obama and his policies, who will Big Business support? They will support the agenda that will insure they remain in business. They are opportunists and we need to insure that they have opportunities - profit - is supporting our agenda.

I lived within a couple of miles of the Ford factory in Highland park Michigan...now empty...
But another factor came into play...With the auto industry, my BIL worked his way up from the line to paymaster, but the factory closed down 6 weeks every year for the turnover of the models and the workers planned for that during the year...My sister had a pantry full of food for the lay off time....They also didn't run 24 hours a day. Employment was steady.
I don't think steel is even made in the US anymore, at least not like it was in the Detroit area...
Hoffa ran the teamsters so tight, he could close down trucking across the country....My son is an independent trucker, but during the hay day of unions, he either joined the union or his rig was burned out and he would be lucky to keep his life....
The rank and file suffered with strikes, but the big boss's that ran the unions didn't suffer at all....big union, big government, big corporations all are bad for the country...
One of the reasons Bobby Kennedy went after Hoffa so hard was his power with the teamsters to stop all commerce that ran over the road....none of the BIG unions are for the rank and file any more....they at times won't even allow the members to vote on management propositions...(at least thats how it was a few years ago)
No need to even talk about the teachers unions, we all know about them. I heard one of the union boss's say in an interview, I'll worry about the students when they pay union dues.....
Right to work states are the ones that are getting the jobs. Michigan was once a great stable place to work, its now the rust belt, with jobs in other area's without unions.
Even as a nurse when I worked in a city hospital, I had to join Afsme union...sp/ The dues were not steep, but for some unions its high....I think there time has passed...
They were needed decades ago, not now if you want to have a job and put food on the table....
Many don't remember the yearly teachers strikes even tho they were illegal strikes....Reagan put an end to that with the Air Traffic Controllers strike...all the unions cooled off with illegal strikes after that. Its rare to see a teachers strike anymore...It only took one man with the power and guts to put an end to a lot of that nonesense...
Those that were adults during that time remember the screaming that all the airplanes would crash with out the experienced controllers...Reagan just trained new ones...
No one should be forced to join a union or have their secret vote taken from them.....but it is just mho

"Tom Borelli, director of the National Center for Public Policy Research's Free Enterprise Project, added: "Big businesses are now on notice that there is a measurable business risk for actively supporting the Obama, Reid, and Pelosi progressive public policy agenda."Their initial focus will be on consumer firms that lobbied for passage of Obama's agenda items that helped their firms. "We are going after the rent-seeking corporations feeding at the public trough," said FreedomWorks' spokesman Adam Brandon.
The groups released a new Wilson Research Strategies poll to Whispers which shows how companies could suffer when conservatives are told of their support for Obama's agenda. The poll found that when customers are told of a consumer product firm's support for healthcare reform, bailouts, cap-and-trade energy policies or other issues pushed by the administration, their favorability among conservatives plummets.
A few examples:
-- General Electric. The firm has a 51 percent favorable image, but when poll takers were told of it's support for the Obama economic stimulus plan, only 20 percent had a favorably impression of the consumer giant.
-- Johnson and Johnson. Nearly 69 percent had a favorable impression of the health company before Johnson and Johnson's support for health reform legislation was detailed to survey-takers. Afterward, that favorability dropped to 16 percent.
The poll also found that 81 percent of conservative voters active in the Tea Party would be "less likely to buy products from companies that actively lobbied to pass Obama's $787 billion stimulus plan," and 61 percent would blog, Facebook, or upload a YouTube video urging backers to boycott their products."
Now as to unions, I say no government employee unions period, and no forced union membership in any trade. Have standards by which a tradesman must be certified, sure, but then let them compete.
What the hell was the topic again? Oh yes - I would prefer the headline be: Next Tea Party Target - Collusion Between Gov and Business to Drive Competition from the Market and to Make the Gov Pay for Things We Don't Need (like Hybrid Cars, Auto Companies, and Backscatter Airport Scanners). I deal with union workers on a daily basis, and I know for a fact that most of them earn no better and have no better benefits than non-union workers. We're not talking big, fancy unions like the UAW or AFSCME here. In these cases, the union is nothing more than a parasite riding on the backs of these workers and siphoning off dues to pay the union boss's fat salary and to support his pet politicians. In my opinion, they have no legitimacy whatsoever anymore.

That fight hasn’t been had for a few years. He added, “these issues are too important to be left behind and they won’t be left behind.”

Yes, in the 1930s when union organizers were beaten up by Henry Ford’s hired goons.

My grandfather was a member of the USW and he would always say that the steel industry was going to eventually self-destruct from inept management and greedy unions.

Nowadays, you mostly have minimills; small, high-tech facilities that produce specialized types of steel. The big, unionized mills are extinct.

The states in the worst economic shape are all big Democrat, big union states.

Agreed. It’s hilarious to hear liberals talk as if it’s still 1910 and their father fell into a meat-processing machine and got ground up into sausage like in Upton Sinclair’s “The Jungle”.

The unions drove up the cost of labor to the point that they drove manufacturing to cheaper labor markets overseas. Government employee unions should be outlawed. They’re nothing but an arm of the socialist Democrat party. See: SEIU.
Armey doesn't support her now. He likes Tim Pawlenty and Haley Barbour.
Apparently, he's also in favor of amnesty, according to Mchelle Malkin. He's also the guy who bragged about censoring Tom Tancredo.

Kudos and enthusiastic support of Freedom Works on this one, but Freedom Works is NOT the TEA Party, and Dick Armey is not the leader of the TEA Party. He just likes to play the part on TV, from time to time.
By and large, the US was always a high labor cost country. That is why so many people immigrated here, and why slaves, were brought here, and why for workers, uneducated workers, their living standards were so much higher then anyplace in the world.
But...
We had low taxes, small government, private property and contracts so we were innovative and quick and rewarding of work and genious.
Now...
We have have high taxes, fees, permits, licenses, laws, rules, edicts, mandates, codes, regulations, laws...the list goes on...
Government is killing labor, business, liberty, prosperity. Government prospers. Detroit is the future already for hundreds of once productive cities, some the one time economic marvel of the world. Soon Michigan will be a state size Detroit, maybe New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Massachusetts, California.
Just as Detroit and these failed cities had their profiting hack contractors, so to do we at the federal level. Immelt of GE is leach. If Hitler was running the company, he’d be trying to get gas chamber contracts, at good prices. He has supported GE doing business with Iran, and supports government forcing green rackets on citizens with his company profiting.
