JERUSALEM (RNS) The Western Wall, the holiest site in Judaism, is actually a Muslim shrine, according to an official report published Monday (Nov. 22) by the Palestinian Authority's Ministry of Information.
The document, which was written by Al-Mutawakei Tahad, a senior ministry official and respected writer, states that the Wall -- long considered the sole surviving piece of the Second Jewish Temple built atop the Temple Mount more than 2,000 years ago-- is actually part of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, built on Haram al-Sharif, the Arabic name for the Temple Mount.
Archeologists maintain that Al-Aqsa was built atop the ruins of the Second Temple, which was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D. Muslims did not capture Jerusalem until 638 A.D.
The report claims that Jews have lied about the wall's age, and that they never worshipped there prior to 1917.
"Al-Buraq Wall is in fact the western wall of Al-Aqsa Mosque," Taha wrote, according to the Jerusalem Post, which broke the story on Monday.
"The Zioinist occupation falsely and unjustly claims that it owns this wall, which it calls the Western Wall or Kotel," the report said.
Taha said that "many studies" published by Jewish experts "have affirmed there is no archeological evidence that the Temple Mount was built during the period of King Solomon."
He added that "no Muslim or Arab or Palestinian has the right to give up one stone of Al-Buraq or other religious sites."
The Western Wall and Temple Mount complex have long been a violent flashpoint between Jews and Muslims. In recent years, Palestinians who want East Jerusalem to be their future capital have tried to undermine Jewish religious and historical claims to the city.
Israelis said Taha's report contained lies that will only serve to undermine the fragile peace process.

Standard Muslim modus operandi.
They squat over others’ religious sites and then claim it as their own.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.
Sure, why not, they own Ground Zero too.
How many times does the Koran mention Jerusalem ?
Every new day means new lies from the psycho-cult called Islam. If you are stupid enough to follow a false prophet then you become vile enough to make up any lie that justifies him
Using western freedoms to infiltrate and convert societies.
What they could not achieve with swords, they are now conquering with “emigration”.
Watch the rising of 911 monument at ground Zero funded by infidels!
If that is the case, then the Jews own Mecca.
Al Asqa Mosque is built on Solomons Stables, on the Jewish Holy Temple Mount. The Mosques is on Jewish Holy Ground and must be relocated to Mecca where it belongs. I would be glad to help relocate that Mosque to Mecca
Al Aksa mosque was built where it was built BECAUSE the site was the site of the Jewish Temple Mount - where Solomon and then Herod built the Jewish temples, which has always included the Western Wall.
Al Aksa mosque was built on the land of the historic Jewish temple as a demonstration of Islam’s dominance.
The connection to anything Mohammed did - at that site - was a fabrication, a contemporary fabrication invented at the time the mosque as built, used to justify, falsify, why the Mosque was built there.
God disagrees with the Philistines.
Possesion in this case is 10/10ths of the law. Tell them to take their argument up with Hashem.
I will need a lesson in Hebrew, because without the vowels, I will have a very hard time translating those words.
Off topic, will share small amounts of turkey meat with my cats, since my turkey is done. :)=^..^=
According to Bing.com, that’s Hebrew for “Come and get it!” I was going for the same sentiment as “Molon Labe,” but somehow Greek just didn’t seem appropriate.
I’m sure the kittehs appreciate the offerings.
The cats enjoyed the turkey as well!
Well well! What more will surprise us???
“Mr. Netanyahu, TEAR DOWN THAT “MOSQUE!”
If I recall correctly, Al Aqsa mosque was a Byzantine Church before the Muslims conquered Jerusalem.
The Muslims then converted the existing church to a Mosque.
So the Muslims did what the Orthodox Christians had done at the site before them - intentionally occupy a site known for its religious significance to another faith.
It remains, an intentional myth, an invention, that the site had any connection to Mohammed, in his lifetime. That was an Islamic political excuse for occupying a site.
