We need a balanced budget amendment
Yes indeedy. Thank you for posting that. Anyone with any knowledge of Icelandic sagas and Viking history, know how rich and proud their governing traditions have been.
Yup. Everyone talks about Greece and Rome, but an awful lot of our governing notions also have roots with the "Scandahoovians"..... :^)
My point was, this is a country NO ONE wants to emigrate to, at least in its present state, which has ONE TENTH OF ONE PERCENT OF OUR POPULATION. THere are NO comparisons with America that make any sense. Unless one wants to assume that 160,000 of the 320,000 population will wind up being supported by the “working” half. Their social ‘progressivism’ is easily manageable in a nation that small, and that unimportant: I’d be much more surprised if they dealt with those ‘problems’ in the highly politicized way the West AND even the politically dynamic “Third World” has finally come to.
By not showing up, despite pleads and encouragement from the government and the government owned media, the people rejected this “new constitution of a new Iceland”.
Only 36.7 percent showed up, and it could very well be, that a good portion of those voted into it will be people that ran on a platform of saving the constitution and not changing it.
They haven´t given us the results as of yeat, we will probably have to wait one more day, something we are not used to, as normally we get the first counted numbers as soon as the polls are closed.
