A Friendly Reminder for the ‘Patriotic Millionaires for Higher Taxes’ Club
Michelle Malkin ^ | 11/27/2010 | Doug Powers

It’s funny how a group that claims to be concerned with “fiscal strength” wants the most fiscally irresponsible entity this side of John Daly to confiscate more of their money. But at least “Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength” sounds better than “We have so much money we can afford to pretend America was built on high taxes, irresponsible spending and foolishness.”

I’ve mentioned this before, but I want to remind these 80-plus millionaires who think their taxes aren’t high enough of something: They can pay higher taxes, and right now. The US Treasury accepts donations. They don’t have to wait for the Bush cuts to expire to pay their “fair share.” No more excuses!

It would be interesting to know how much money these people who are begging for a tax increase spend each year on accountants to sniff out every possible loophole.

There is a huge difference between Millionaires and people who make over $250,000, a distinction which is deliberately ignored by the "raise taxes" crowd.

As Powers points out, if the well off don't mind paying higher taxes, go right ahead.

I wonder what the reaction of these same people would be if "tax free" investments were eliminated?

You don’t pay income taxes on assets, which is what the really rich have.

Create a new law called “Patriotic Millionaires for High Taxes HR” that says patriotic millionaires who favor high taxes could volunteer to pay more into the “Patriotic Millionaire fund designated in the Treasury

It’s easy to be a big shot about taxes when you spend on lawyers and accountants as much as most people make to loophole you out of most taxes.

Exactly. Those who earn an income are those who want to be rich, while those who are rich don’t pay any income taxes, so any increase in income taxes will never effect the rich. These rich folk just want to keep their club small, for themselves

How about once identified, the government could simply seize all their assets?

I wonder how patriotic they would be after that.

“These rich folk just want to keep their club small, for themselves”

That’s the definition of slavery - when one group can’t traverse the economic ladder.

think about it - the jewish slaves in Egypt got a roof over their heads & 3 squares. We get tokens with which we can get the same, plus some shiny stuff also to make us feel good.

What’s the real difference?

The real difference is if you are capable of traversing the economic ladder.

Something which Soros and other hard leftist money would like to prevent.

If it's worth paying for as a whole then all should pay for it equally as a whole.

Believe me, you, the changes in our tax code and unchecked spending would be demanded then!!

It’s 100% legal for individuals to “donate” money over and above what they owe,by law,in taxes, fees, etc to the US Treasury. It happens quite frequently,as I understand it.I’m willing to wager the clothes on my back that not a *single* one of these “patriotic’ millionaires have donated a nickel to the Treasury.

You don’t pay income taxes on assets

You pay property taxes on your house, which is an asset in a sense.

Funny how multi millionaires like Bill Gates Sr. spend untold sums of money to get on the WA ballot, plus how much did those stupid commercials cost? He could have donated the $ to charity.

There is a huge difference between Millionaires and people who make over $250,000,...

If you expect our children to see the difference then we need to increase the pay of teachers and give them a much better pension. /s

If you expect the parents to accept the difference, then we need a revolutionary change in political discourse.

My point was that people with billions of dollars of assets in the stock market, Warren "Tax Me More" Buffet for example, pay no taxes on their billions, except for the small amounts they sell each year.

Kind of hypocritical to use that as a platform to advocate higher taxes for small business people who actually earn their incomes, don't you think?

Tell the “Patriotic Millionaires for Fiscal Strength” that if they feel that they aren,t paying their fair share that all they have to do is decide how much they think they should be paying and write a check and send it to the U.S. Tresury Deptartment in Washington D.C.. Then they will feel better.

Anybody want to bet on how many of them will litterly put their money where their mouth is?

I am pro-choice when it comes to tax increases.

Libturds are pro-choice when it comes to allowing women to terminate their unborn child’s life. Why not apply that logic to taxes?

None of these “high net worth” people propose “wealth taxes” on the value of their holdings outside of their real property. For them it is always higher marginal rates for the working classes, to keep them working class. This serves to keep their enclaves clear of those vulgar “new money people”.

It eliminates the entrepreneurial “new money” because many of us may enter the highest income brackets for a year or two then move down in income as out product/services peak and settle.

In order to break-out one has to hit the jackpot and make millions in one year, as opposed to several hundred thousand for a couple of years. Better chance of getting struck by lightning than hitting the jackpot.

Never do these nitwits ever propose a wealth tax
