Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh admits covering up US military strikes on Al-Qaeda in Yemen by claiming they are carried out by Yemeni forces, according to US documents leaked by WikiLeaks.

"We?ll continue saying the bombs are ours, not yours," Saleh said in January talks with General David Petraeus, then commander of US forces in the Middle East, according to a leaked US diplomatic cable published by the New York Times.

I wonder if the US’s totally ineffective response to WikiLeaks is, in part, because Obama is quite happy to see the further weakening of our relationships with allies and other cooperators?

I can't think of any other reason. We could have simply helped Interpol arrest the guy on his outstanding rape warrent from Sweden, locked him up and worked out a deal with him.

The CIA has missed almost every critical event of our time. It survives based on fantasy portrayals in novels and movies. There is nothing there worth spending money on.

ah yes, I’d just posted that article on FR..... a lot of interesting info there

So far I don’t think there are any earthshaking revelations about policy matters, but a lot of embarrassments for particular foreign officials.... revelations of candid (harsh) criticisms from US officials who think they are speaking confidentially etc.

There could well be massive, long-lasting harms to US relations with many govts and individual officials around the world, since no one is going to want to end up with this kind of exposure if they are asked to help on sensitive issues..... plus, there’s just going to be a ton of resentment from all the foreign officials who are now in major political, personal, and sometimes legal predicaments from things revealed in these files.

PFC Bradley Manning should be shot, now, not later since he admitted to leaking these classified cables to wikileaks. After that they should go after the wikileaks owner and shoot him as a traitor as well.

Read this from June when this PFC pos admitted to it. About half way down it mentions the cables, not knowing at the time if he gave them to wikileaks. I guess now they know.

btw, why was one low-level military intel guy able to access all these State Dept. cables from all over the world???? Seems like some really bad internal security and lack of compartmentalization??

Either there is NO internal security, or these leaks come from a much higher level.

re: “traitor”

Manning, definitely, get rid of that POS sooner rather than waste money feeding him.

Assange (the WikiLeaks founder) is Australian, not American, so as a legal point he can’t be a “traitor” to the USA. Still, we ought to be able to take him out as a spy who has done serious damage to us, but outside of movies I don’t think we get to do that sort of thing - certainly not under Obozo.

Anyone associated with WikiLeaks or with releasing classified materials to them ought to be executed. Short of that, put ‘em away forever. For any we can’t catch right away, make sure they can never set foot in the USA or any respectable nation ever again. Make ‘em live in some hellhole like North Korea.

You are correct of course about Assange. I knew he wasn’t American but was too angry to bother slowing down to identify that he should be charged with espionage. Thank you. I can’t believe we are letting him get away with this. Certainly there are ways to deal with him.

Good find. Yep it was that gay traitor Bradley Manning who gave Wiki Leaks the 250,000 State Department cables. Our security must be piss poor for Manning to have glommed onto them in the first place

You know our Government is just going to claim it’s all false. They will say false files were leaked along with truth. We’ll give them all a few $$ billions and all it will all be good again.

Do we know for sure that he didn't have help from a little higher up?

No choice!
For the nature of the info, it requires many sources, so there are many complicit in Obama’s “reset” and his leveling of the playing field.
It is a wickedgate — with America and her allies as the security breach victims!
Obama needs to take full and complete responsibility in all ways. What would NIXON do?

This is all consistent witth 0’s stated goal of wanting to open up our secret files when he came to office. We have been reduced to a laughing stock on the world stage and it will be a long time before our credibility as world leader can be restored.
